what happened....

steam says i have to install hl2, i already did, about 3 days ago. My main quesion is, if anything is wrong how to i back-up my saved games, i don't wan't to start all over agian?

Go into your Steamapps folder then your account name, then the folder Half-life 2, then the folder hl2 and there should be a folder called Savegames.

Try simply restarting your computer, that usually works for me.

Or just restart Steam, it worked for me.

That happened to me once, I just pressed cancel, double clicked Hl2 and it loaded fine.

so if i backed them up and just entered those into the saved folder when i format my hdd, and reinstall hl2? Also will it reconize that i beat all the levels up to the point of my save?
