What is the new 357 dmg

how does armor affect damage taken? For example, how much damage would a 357 shot to the head with 100/200 be?

I'm fairly certain that it would still be 130 damage. The difference would be that it would be spread between your armor and your health. The armor would probably take the brunt of it, but you'd take plenty of health damage, too.

Notice, please, that there are still plenty of "magnum whores" roaming the streets of City 17. It's just that now no one can complain because it really is skill that gets them their kills.

No it's not. I first picked a magnum on the nova prospektish DM level. Plenty of kills and only my first ime playing. I don't think there's skill there.

I'm assuming that you're not new to computer-based FPS games. Someone who has a decent amount of experience with Quake or UT, or even the original Half-Life (or someone like me, familiar with somewhat less popular games like Jedi Knight II and Tribes), is going to be at a big advantage over the average player. There isn't much that's really idiosyncratic about the magnum--just point and shoot, anticipating your opponent's movements--so it is easy for an experienced FPS player to come into his first game and do well with it.

It's pretty academic to call any experienced FPS player a "noob" to any FPS. Odds are he's going to beat anyone who's familiar with the game but new to FPS games as a whole into the ground.

i think the health armor ratio is 1-4 so if a weapon does 100 dmg (IE xbow) It will do 25 health and 75 armor

No it's a lot less, it takes two shots now, one if it's the head. Much better IMO.
