The last fighting scenme with all the striders and hunters was really fun, but a little too easy.

I loved the driving chapter.

I hated Freeman Pontifex, it was the most Doom-esque chapter in Ep2.

I hated This Vortal Coil, except the very beginning battle with the antlions. The rest of it was awful.

[samon]The last two chapters of episode two are the best ones valve ever created for their games.[/samon]

Chapters are pretty random distinctions. If this was Half-Life 1, 'Riding Shotgun' through 'Under the Radar' probably would have been a Surface-Tension level epic instead of two smaller chapters. Would have made it easier to chose between them too, since they're both damned good, and combined probably better than Our Mutual Fiend, which gets my vote instead.

Our Mutual Fiend has the revelations, the wild tension variation and the neatly observed visual style (the silo) to edge out the competition. That said, only the Strider battle isn't done elsewhere and better: The Hunter battle in 'Riding Shotgun' is better, as is the advisor encounter. The seige in 'Under the Radar' is also IMO, the best infantry based battle in the series.

edit: Not surprised to currently see the first three chapters down on their luck. We were somewhat tired of antlions 3 years ago.

Under the radar was my favourite, simply because of the car and infantry fights.

I would have voted for them only if we had the chance to control the workers. But noooooo :x

I enjoyed this vortal coil because it reminded me of xen. And insects facinate me.

I liked them all but This Vortal Coil. Valve comes up with some of the best chapter names ever for video games.

Some of the best from each game:

Half Life 1:
Anomalous Materials
Unforseen Consequences
Residue Processing
Questionable Ethics
Surface Tension
Gonarch's Lair
Interloper
Nihilanth

Half Life 2:
Point Insertion
A Red Letter Day
Route Kanal
Water Hazard
We don't go to Ravenholm
Nova Prospekt
Anticitizen One
Our Benefactors
Dark Energy

Episode 1:
Undue Alarm
Direct Intervention
Lowlife
Urban FLight
Exit 17

Episode 2:
To The White Forest
This Vortal Coil
Freeman Pontifex
Riding Shotgun
Under The Radar
Our Mutual Fiend
T-Minus One

It's so hard! Everything from Riding Shotgun forward was really awesome stuff, some of the best we've seen in HL.

I voted Our Mutual Fiend, because a lot of story is laid out and we get both the cool alone time in the silo and the big battle outside.

i didnt enjoy the antlion tunnels much, alot of potential there they didnt use.

i loved pretty much all the rest, especially the driving and the final battle.

Hmmm...this vortal coil purely because we got to see the vorts in action and that gman scene (I seriously didn't see that one coming).

But the last two chapters are some of the best I have ever played in any video game - T- Minus Ten in particular because it was just stunning and an absoutly fitting ending for episode two.

That infantry battle at the White Forest Inn was one of the best fights I've had in a game.

I enjoyed everything, didn't hate any chapter and voted for Riding Shotgun.

dont know why people hate the underground level with all the creatures, it was spectacular to me! best for sure

I liked This Vortal Coil. Voted for it.

Though my favourite was T-Minus One for the story.

Under The Radar, no question. Taking out the autogun (and the trenches/car beach part) was amazing.

Probably Riding shotgun, but i impulsively voted Our Mutual Friend. I love taking down striders

I enjoyed them all, although the final chapter would probably get my vote just because of the character developement and acting.

I thoroughly enjoyed the antlion caves, my only disappointment was that we didn't face a real "king" or "queen". Seeing that they just gave the guardian some glow in the dark treatment and a modified name was a bit of a disappointment. I was expecting to get trapped in this huge underground cavern until I had faced off this monstrosity that drawfed everything I had seen (as far as antlions go) thus far. I know it sounds "end boss" -ish, but I enjoy the sence of accomplishment and closure those scenarios give.

The dialogue weaved through out the game was stellar, I wish we could interact more with the NPC's. They used to have so much extra to say if you wanted to take the time.

Mutual Friend is my favourite, as it has the nostalgiac, black mesa, feel

Riding Shotgun White Forest Inn WAS INSANE!

This Vortal Coil, for the chance to look at the antlion caves, fight alongside a vortigaunt, and the G-man speech at the end.

dont know why people hate the underground level with all the creatures, it was spectacular to me! best for sure

People don't hate it, its just that it dragged on and were basically a rehash of older antlion levels. Don't get me wrong, for intrepid xenobiologists (darkside :P ) Its great, and the beginning, the end and the bit where the vort gets the extract were all great (the music on that the extract bit was awesome)

what happened in Freeman Pontifex? Can't remember..

The one where you had to get the car from the bridge. With all the waste and zombies.

I think that This Vortal Coil would've been much better if instead of going the long route to the extract, Freeman and the Vort would've just gone down the elevator behind Alyx, had the flight from the Guardian, got the extract, and gotten out. That would've cut a good 20 minutes or so from the game, and would've made the underground adventure a lot less tedious.

The only reason I don't like This Vortal Coil is because it gives a misleading impression about the game's length. You play this long, awesome, HL2-length chapter, only to be very disappointed by the next chapter's shortness.

To the White Forest! xD

Why?- * )Epic bridge destruction!
* )Meet the Hunters!
* )Lill' Gnome!
* )Awsome look at the Citadel!
* )Minimal Antlions!! (Omfg, woot!)
* )Meet Maggie!

Good enough? :D

This Vortal Coil here. It had good combat, The slow elevator is a old bit but still done well in that area. Only issue I have with it is the "don't kill the Guardian" bit, running from hole to hole what fun.
