What should I do?

Hey I've been downloading HL2 for about a day (living in europe).

It says there is 45 minutes left to d/l, but when I right click on HL2->properties it says it is 51% Completed or whatever. The first time I downloaded this game, it would freeze at the Loading screen with the blurred background.

Anyway, what should I do?! It's obviously going to finish at about 55%, is there a way to finish it?

Grrr, this is like a bad joke :\ And I hear there is no return policy on the purchasing HL2 from Steam?

I had the same problem even when it said I was ready to play the game. then I noticed I had to wait until the game COMPLETELY finished(100 percent acquired). After it was finished d/ling I made sure no other mod was d/ling(CT:source, half life, DOD:source).

And since I heard a lot of offline issues I unclicked the "remember my password whatever whatever" on the steam login window then restarted steam.

after that HL 2 started without any issues!

What? I finished reinstalling it and I'm having the same problem. How do I start it up again!?

start what up again? steam or half-life 2?

I had to reinstall also. i deleted everything in the apps folder and reinstalled. MAKE SURE IT'S 100 PERCENT COMPLETED, and don't worry if it says "ready to play blah blah."

I had the same problem. the blurred screen froze, and i had to hard boot the puter. after reading the support(NOT FORUM ) questions on the steam site it made sense.
