So yesterday our area experienced some really heavy winds, like 60-70 mph.

When I got home from school I walked out onto the back porch, and noticed, sitting where the little courtyard in my back yard used to be, a massive, 12 foot tall, 15 foot long green house.

I had never seen this thing before in my life. It was just sitting there on its side right on my back porch. It was crushing some of the shrubbery and had knocked down a small tree. It had been weighted down with 3X8 slabs of wood, which had been tapered together with strips of metal. The whole thing looked like it had just been dropped on my house by aliens. It was very surreal. Now, my house is U shaped. On the inside of the "U" is this little courtyard, which has a small archway big enough for a person to fit through. There is no way that this huge greenhouse made it through this archway, so the only way for it to get there was from the sky. I noticed that our gutters on one side had been knocked to the ground, and some tree branches from an overhanging tree had been torn off and were strewn on the roof.

So apparently, my next door neighbors had this green house in their back yard. It had been weighted down by bricks and pieces of wood, and was tethered to the fence by steel cables. The heavy winds had picked up this entire structure, which weighed probably around 600-700 pounds, tore it from its steel cables, knocked the bricks over, caused it to fly 20 feet in the air OVER MY HOUSE, and landed with a crash in the little courtyard past my back porch.

If some little gale-force winds can do this, I can't imagine what a hurricane or a tornado can do!

i've never seen anything that epic....been nice if you could have been sitting on your porch, sipping on some tea thinking, "Sure is windy....mmmhmm." when suddenly KABOOM! instant greenhouse!

And here I was thinking my story of accidentally firing a bottle cap from 24 oz Coke bottle over a pickup truck full of Mexican children on the 4th of July was epic!

Pics or ill have to take your word that it happened!

Whoa...crazy stuff.

We had insane winds here too, I got off of school today. \o/

We had 45-50 mph winds where I am last night. It apparently caused the power to be knocked out at 2am. Considering the temperature dropped from 50F to 30F over night, I'd say that it was one hell of a cold front.

Okay, let me be more specific.

While a plane can take off on a treadmill or conveyor belt that is moving against it, it will not take off if the plane is moving on the treadmill but stationary relative to the world around it.

Oh. Maybe I've been confused about this debate from the beginning then.

I declare myself exempt from shameful picture-taking on the grounds that I was misled. :arms:

Nobody misled you but yourself:
It won't take off.

If it does take off, I'm going to write "I DO NOT UNDERSTAND PHYSICS" in giant black permanent marker on my forehead.

Seriously.

[edit] Pics will be taken.

Its right there Stiggy, from your own mouth! Pics must be taken!

We had some high winds here too due to some storms and shit ****ing up southside (SOUTHSIDE BITCHES), but a greenhouse? That's just awesome!

Also, I demand that slutty shell of a whoreman Stiggy to post more pics of himself before I **** his cat without a condom. Or lube.

I would have taken pics, but we had disassembled it and taken it back to the neighbors before I thought to get my camera.

My dorm room was shaking since 4 am last night from the wind and when I came back from my first class, the security guard thought I was a bum going by how bundled up I was.

And I still had school because our college has a stupid centennial ceremony.

And my night classes didn't end early either. :(

AND ITS GODDAMN COLD!

You must take pictures and macro them to say, "Greenhouse out of f*cking nowhere!"

I came home today to find part of my roof had blown off.Quite a big bit.

Thats pretty wizard-of-oz-style-epic right there.

We got out of school on Wednesday because the wind knocked out our power.

Wait, is it a greenhouse or a green house?

Texas, huh?

One day it's hot, the other day it's freezing.

The next day we've got insane winds out of nowhere.
