What would you do..if you were Valve?

I dont really see the point in them wasting their time trying to track down whoever "done it"
i think the community can find that out anyways.

Though, i have to say its sad that whoever did it was at 1st the hero to many people, and as soon as gabe says something, its all after them!

But, anyways, Valve are better of trying to limit the damage it can cause?

Im not sure what they can do about it 2bh, i can imagine valve is a pretty sad place as of now, i know Gabe will find a solution, even though im sure he is proberbly unsure at the moment!

People asking him how it will effect HL2 and its release date, i imagine he wont know yet.

So what can the community do to help?

A couple of obvious things for one:
Dont download the source, Dont post Spoilers, Valve have been secretive for so long, we press them for info, but when info comes out like this, do we really want it?

I dont think most of us do, i think we want to load up something on the day and not really know whats about to happen..

When you go and watch your favourite TV program, would it be as fun if you had allready seen the script?

Support valve, like they have supported us.

If i were Valve... i'd just get on and release it before everything is completely ruined. They can always patch.

Simply release SP and delay MP.

Why delay it? Then they have to go to the effort of disabling MP and/or removing it. May as well just release both and patch MP up. Every other game does...

I know, just looking out for valve. I'd rather kick/ban all the cheaters and play the game now than reduce the risk and play much later.

Its weird that they'd delay the game in any case, was'nt it steam job to patch up HL2 without any intervention/manual install by the user??

I agree you have to know a few hooks the haxors will use as exploits plant a few traps for them and mass ban their asses permanently.

Let them drop another 50 bucks to get a shot.

you know you guys are just giving me high hopes.. remember when people we saying HL2 wasnt delayed on the 29th of september? jesus..
I had my cc# ready for steam
