After seeing all the HL2 videos it seems that alot of the plot focus is to do with the rebellion of the humans against their opressors. We see Gordon leading them against a strider, and the start of HL2 is focused on the train journey and being shown the control the combine have over its citizens.

Where do the aliens come into this? It seems like more of a Red Faction plot. I cant see us leading the rebellion and suddenly aliens being introduced, they must be linked somehow?

Perhaps Gordon has been employed by the G-Man to go to the route of where the battle between humans and aliens begins? I definetely believe the G-Man is from the future or some sort, maybe to prevent OR start the war.

In HL1 he was seen around BMF, this suggests or blatantly lays out that he KNEW the accident was going to happen, perhaps he even supplied the materials to start the cascade? The Administrator or 'Employers' who he works for could have sent him to Black Mesa to start the war, that would explain why all the freaky experiments were going on.

The weird lisp suggesting that he could be an Alien also would give another reason to start the war, hes like a mole, undercover for the aliens. What would Gordon do under his employment? Maybe the start of HL2 is Gordon trying to escape the G-Man so goes to an over populated City where it would be almost impossible to track him? What are the combines hiding under those masks? Why is Gordon taken to be interrogated? Are the combine soldiers also working for the G-Man?

Anyone got any ideas?

The aliens (zombies, headcrabs ... etc) will probably be OUTSIDE the city, as I see it will be very hard for them to get into a city under martial law (with perhaps an exception of a few which sneaked in via the sewers .... etc). The Xen aliens are the product of the resonance cascade event, and will probably be the cause of the combine appearing.

Who knows ?
Wait until the game's released , then we'll find out :)

I'm guessing the rebellion will co-incide with a city-wide security failure meaning all the aliens get in.

I think your EXACTLY right. The most likley thing. Good job.

<Guss>In the E³ 2004 vid, at the beginning the G-Man flashes to Black-White, and at some point his face looks like a skull. If he is from the future, he might lead Gordon and everybody else to death and destruction, but for what reason?</Guss>

:)

But in any case, yes it seems that he is from the future.

How about, I know its been discussed before but what if G-man is Gordon from the future. He would have lived Gordons life, maybe something good comes from the war, maybe the war between xen and Earth is what stops opression at City 17 and other Cities (1-16?). That may be why G-Man/Gordon tries to start the cascade, the catalyst for the invasion.

Or maybe Gordon stopped the war in the past and it caused more harm then good. When he became the G-man he vowed to travel back in time, using dimensional weapons etc. to go back and change things for the better.

I just think theres way to many similarities looks wise between Gordon and the G-man. Why didnt Valve make the G-man look different, different from Gordon. They knew when they were designing the characters how similiar they looked so it must have been intentional for some reason.

That would explain why we never hear Gordon speak, he must be embarassed about his lisp :burp:

The Administrator wants to join forces with the combine (alien race?), the scientists don't...the Administrator orders Gman to revive Freeman and use him to infiltrate the scientists base. Then either Freeman is meant to destroy the base or the Gman will send in the combine. Either way, no more scientists.
Of course Freeman doesn't do this and so he joins with the scientists and they create a plan to rid the Earth of the combine, thus making the administrator powerless...
Along the way you find out Gman is Freemans father, queue the Gmans death and final heart warming couple of minutes together where the Gman tells Freeman that he is the One and can fly n shit...Bah and this started off so well...

Some fantasy you got there mr. G-Freeman.

If we hear Gordon speak, it would sound like the G-Man, and we would conclued something there, maybe they are saving the surprise undtil Half Life 47. :)

No, no, no, no, nooooo.....

G-man from future theory = ridiculous and cheesy. If he was Freeman from the future, why would he give himself the option to kill himself at the end of HL1? And don't say 'he knew he wouldn't do it', please.

He knew he wouldn't do it.

lol j/k.

Perhaps you'd like to say WHY it is ridiculous and cheesy. Any theory that could be written in the storyline is fallible :)

But seriously you've answered your own question. Maybe he did know he wouldn't do it. If he is Freeman from the future he knows what decision he would take. I wouldn't say its cheesy, its not like Valve would take the Star Wars approach all over again, they would make it original and write it in convincingly.

I'm not saying he is Freeman from the future, and I'm not saying it isn't, but it would make sense. Similarity in apprearence. Like I said before Valve would know when designing and creating the characters how similair they looked. It MUST be intentional for some reason or another.

Aww man. Gman is NOT the future Gordon! I mean, that is so pathetic of a storyline. Besides, that would focus all the attention on Gman, and HL2 isnt about Gman, Hl2 goes beyond Gman, to his superiors.

As for Gman being Gordon's father! that's eeeeven worse!! goddamn! c'mon people.

If HL was a "who is the gman" mystery, then he would never have said anything about HIS employers in HL1. That was placed there right at the end. You had essentially been chasing Gman around Hl1, now that youre with him, you want to know who he is. You think he's the route of all the madness and chaos, but it turns out there's more to this orchestrated catastrophe than just him.

arrrrrrrrrrrr!!! the adminisrator's a bitch!

i was just elaborating on my previous post (editting) and i went over the edit timeout thing. What a pain in the ass.

basically i said that all theories about gman are too simplistic and that am sure none of us would be happy if they came true in HL2. We expect more than querky time travel stories and plots of one man to take over the world dont we?

Off the wall theory: Maybe he's that dude who apparently discovered the secret of immortality back in the 17th century. Or that one who was doomed to wander the world until Armeggedon. Or whatever.

Woah... Where'd you dig that fruitcake up?

There is so much wrong with that page...

Wait a second... "Increasing metabolism to fight ageing"? Wouldn't increasing your metabolism speed up the ageing process?

women? lol
anyway, I think the combine are just humans, and they came to save the earth from the aliens .. or so they say. or maybe the administrator wanted blackmesa incident to happen so that aliens invade earth, and so then he will be able to rule the world? by providing "safe" cities ..

That explains the link .. between the aliens, blackmesa, and the combine!

Lmao at that site. Especially the diagram of the skin and "meat".

Oh, sod it lmao at especially the whole thing..

Did you know weak magnets are lose?

And this guy discovered eternal life... :-|

the Combine are humans i am quite sure of it. I think after Black Mesa and the defeat of nihalinth, the vortigaunts were set free. But after the defeat, the alien controllers exiled the vortigaunts to earth and the controllers them selves began plotting an invasion.

They re opened the portals and the hordes of xen swepped in. the wildlife of xen also followed I.E Ant lions, bullsquid and houndeyes and stuff. The the wildlife began to inhabit earth, using it as home and breeding. The Alien invasion was so swift that they destroyed any fighting force put against it. The army, police whatever and goverments were also defeated.

The Administrator, Dr. Breen then saw the chaos as an oppurtunity to gain a foot hold of power. He then created the combine, human/machien hybrids in which he used o fight the Alien invaders. Because of the current state of the world and the lack of resources he ushered people into old abondond cities and numbered them.

However outside the cities, in the baron wastelands of earth the aliens inhabit I.E the dried out ocean level where we see Ant lions popping out of the ground. Do they have some sort of nest down there? perhaps the Itchyasor (sp) lives in the ocean.

And in Ravenholm, a small town that is on the outskirts of city 17 has been over run by aliens, its populace turned into zombies and what not. One of the only survivors bieng Father Gregory who set traps for the combine soldiers in case they ever invaded, however they were driven out by the mass of zombies and the traps are used to counter them instead.

The citizens live opressed but for what reason? i cant think of a reason, i can just think that Breen has some sort of twiste scheme going on other than fighting the Aliens on Earth. I think that with all the trouble going on in Earth Breen may have started invading Xen? and the vortigaunts have teamed up with the humans to stop the combine and hopefully allow them to get back home.

thats my theory about the link between the Aliens, Combine and the humans anyway

hows that a beta spoiler? its my theory thats all. if your talking about Ravenholm then we have already seen that in the trailers and thats my idea about that town.

if your talking about the human/machine hybrids that i think are the combine then thats me speculating again because i do not think they are aliens.

1. they bleed red blood.

2. they wear gas masks

3. They sound robotic

the rest is speculation also considering i have heard there is no story in the beta anyway and i havnt even played the beta

interesting that you've guessed so many things right thou.... :farmer:

I can't stop laughing at that site... Even someone who finished secondary school should find at least five hundred things wrong with it. The message board especially is hilarious:

Question:

I am really liking the effects from these rings, and I've read the posts Alex has made about an electromagnetic device that's supposed to be 1000 times stronger or something like that. It all sounds great, except I have heard that electromagnetic waves from electronic devices such as cell phones have been determined to cause brain cancer. How exactly does that happen, and how can we be certain that Alex's devices won't be potentially harmful in the same way? I would really like to believe that the problems from the electronic devices are entirely different and that Alex's devices are reliable and safe, but I just wanted to make sure.

Answer:

Cobalt magnets are radio active and might cause cancer. But if you use regular magnets, including neodymium, I didn't hear a case causing cancer yet. You use computer everyday, watch TV, put your food in microwave. You're not complaining. What harm can it do putting a magnetic coil beside your body for a few hours? It's no more than 500 watts.

LMAO! Wow, did you know cobalt magnets were radioactive? And a magnet thats only 500 watts! Amazing!

Damn, I tried to post some common sense onto his message board. 'Your message will be reviewed before it is posted'.

What's the betting my message will be consigned to computer oblivion?

I really, really don't think that people who have played the "beta" should speculate. Too easy for them to introduce spoiler info.

If the reader doesn't know that this person played the beta then he wouldn't think it's a spoiler .. just another speculation of at least ten thousnad speculations .. he wouldn't pay attention to it.

But once you tell his "this guy played the beta" .. you spoiled it for him!! now he knows something .. as opposed to "thinks" something.

There are people who have admitted to playing the beta speculating here. It's not difficult to see that much of their speculation could be tainted by facts from the stolen build.

Also, if the "speculation" is spot on (Ie: It's not speculation, it's beta info), then once the person who didn't know it was beta info when they heard it finally sees the thing being speculated on in the game itself, they'll probably at first think, "Hey, that dude was 100% correct!". Then, probably after a few seconds, they'll realise that it was to accurate to have been anything other than info from the beta, and they'll think "Damn! Another thing that was spoiled. I would have liked that to be a total surprise... ;("

It's a good thing then that whenever I visit the boards I'm too tired to actually process anything with my brain. The next day I won't remember anything!!

*cheers*
