When can we play our retail copies without the CD/DVD?

It is really annoying having to have my dvd in the drive in order to play HL2, im even considering just ripping it and mounting it so I don't have to do this bullshit anymore.

so is there any word on this? I want to email gabe lol, what is his email?

It is so annoying, and it is valves duty to allow us (the legal purchasers), to have a say, im not slagging off valve, before any1 accuses me. Just, that i feel that a NoCd would be a nice touch to the people who legally acquired the game, and would not encourage piracy, as people still need to register online anyway!

Perhaps VALVe is trying to convince people to just buy over steam
