Well it's been nearly a month since episode 2 (shocking, I know) but where is the trailer for episode 3? At the end of episode 1 we had a trailer, although barely anything that happened in it happened in the final game. Maybe they're taking their time with this one to make it more accurate? Who knows. We could at least have a teaser, something, anything!

I'd say you're spot on with the accuracy bit. They don't want to bring any false hopes to fans.

I think VALVe wants to keep EP3 kinda secret for a little bit longer period of time. Especially the interior of Borealis

They pretty much explicitly stated before the OB's release that they wouldn't preview Ep.3 too early so that that the info doesn't become outdated like what happened with Ep. 2.

I think VALVe deserves a break.

Its gonna be awesome, but its surely gonna be in
SPOILERS ARE NEAR,DONT LOOK!!!
i dont know how to tag it... :-(

the arctic with Alyx,Mossman and the borealis

Heh, they dump pretty much the best deal in gaming history in our laps, we take one look and start shouting 'WHeres the next one!!!!????'

Its that very fact of the 'greatest deal in video game history' that we want more, they left it with such a great ending and dramatic storyline, that we can help but know wat is going to happen....

Off-topic:

I hope Barney's going to be in Episode 3 this time around. Matter of fact, I hope most of the cast is in Ep3. It just isn't the same without most of them.

Something tells me once The Orange Box is released for the Playstation 3 they would have it. Either on the disc or availible on Steam.

Few weeks ago I emailed Gabe including question about ep3 trailer.
Heres what i got as reply:

Thanks, Richard. We won't have a trailer out for Episode 3 for a
while.

Gabe

^^^ Sounds to me like the game may not be ready for release on the original HL's 10 year anniversary.

I think VALVe deserves a break.

I think they need to work harder. :) I've already spent 9 years waiting to see how it's all going to turn out. That's a long f'ing time!

well episode 1 came out in a little over a year so it may be possible.

...But not likely. *sigh*

I actually don't want to see a trailer anytime soon. But would be happier if Valve kept their mouths shut and spent their resources on finishing Episode 3. I don't want to have anything spoiled and for the game to blow our minds when we get to play it.

Gabe using the words "for a while"...

were talking about a number in the billions.

Agreed...their media blitz exposed most of the gameplay and let loose with several spoilers I wouldve been happier playing not knowing what to expect...

True, though they managed to keep secret the most important parts of the story. A little media wouldn't hurt them, although the very small amount I have seen leads me to believe the second half of the game may be strongly dependent on the first. That one blurry piece of concept art basically confirmed what I assumed from the get-go. I won't spoil it for those that haven't seen it, but it's almost intuitive.

Which would be ironic, considering that the Interior of the Borealis was pretty much the first thing we saw of Half-Life 2 :P

To take a pessimistic view, I believe that internally, Episode Three will have a first version that is all but discarded in efforts to later improve upon it. Something 'ambitious' will fail to work convincingly... Perhaps implementing the Portal gun, perhaps getting the rest of the Episodes saga into a single episode, perhaps some as yet unannounced feature that doesn't quite kick off. I think Valve are anticipating something along those lines failing, and they don't want to shoot themselves in the foot, E3 2003 style, after having come close with Episode Two's alterations (though it seems that whatever held it up properly was always under wraps: the things that needed to change were changed for the better).
