Which Binks Do You Prefer?

In watching the binks, yet once again, I noticed a MAJOR difference.
The first Coastline video is in DX8!
The latest is in DX9!

This makes me wonder...Gabe said he played on an ATI 9800pro 128mb. This was when the first set of binks came out, i think, but i know FOR SURE (almost)that that was in October 2003. But now, here we are, almost a year later, DX9 is still not yet a year old...is Gabe's old card still "up to snuff"???

Sure it is. Plays great in CS:S and does fine in Doom3. It was a very expencive, top of the line card at that point...

It sure as hell better run fine,. my gaming experience is counting on it

I have a Radeon 9800pro 256mb and it runs CS:S very well offen with more fps then my refresh rate, sure I can't run with everything on high and still get great FPS but it still looks great so what do I care.

i was wondering, because we do have the option of force-in other DX levels...if performance is too slow, will anyone change?

I prefer the binks which haven't been released yet, but hopefully will be over the next few days...

If its too slow would I go to DX 8?
Hellz no. I'd just turn off AA or AF, or lower the rez.

CS:S is pretty damned fast tho with 2xTemporal AA, 4xAF, 1024x768, w/all options high. I hope thats a fairly good indicator for HL2,... (I know, hl2 will run slower,. but hopefully not by much)

I do OC my card, which keeps the controlls nice and tight at those settings.
