Which hl2 package to buy?

Hi guys!
I'm yoshi_hl2! I'm new to Half Life 2 and actually I havent got the game yet. I m interested ,most of all, in playing Half Life2eathmatch, but I haven t yet understood whether it is sold as a standalone game or not...
Do I need to buy Half Life 2 as well? I d like to buy this package from steam: http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=package&SubId=42&cc=IT or this http://www.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=package&SubId=79&cc=IT
In this way, i ll save some money to buy the "orange pack" (featuring Team Fortress!!!) that will be selling this Fall..
What do u suggest me?

Yes it can be sold separately or with a pack, the pack doesn't have to include Half-Life 2

Take note that HL2 Deathmatch by itself is the same price as the Episode One pack.

In this way, i ll save some money to buy the "orange pack"

You don't get discounts for already owning some of the games on the Orange pack.


This is how I would go about it

If you like multiplayer I'd go for this one (buy the Orange Box later)

If you like Single player (buy the Black Box later, you will need to buy Counter-Strike: Source separately if you want it)

They all come with Deathmatch and they are all good value.

Personally I'm not a fan of HL2 Deathmatch, but then I'm not that much of a fan of Deathmatch full stop.
