I guess the first assumption is the Combine. BUT in anti-citizen one there are several parts where Combine soldiers are fighting headcrabs. It doesnt make sense... damn u valve. Also, can headcrabs be tamed and trained to fight? Kinda like Lamar, but I guess Lamar really isnt tamed.

The headcrabs don't work for anybody, they just rely on instinct. I guess the combine capture headcrabs and put them in the rockets.

They are still wild animals, Lamarr has been de-beaked and probably lost her instincts in the process. Combine just use 'em against any place where there are resistance fighters. They'll attack anyone with a big, juicy central nerv system to take over.

They work for themselves, they only attack people when they feel they are indanger and because they have been transferred to earth, they feel they are always in danger. Or so I believe.

This raises further confusion. The aliens from the first Half-Life are on your side this time in Half-Life 2. So were the headcrabs "pets" of the aliens in the first Half-Life? I guess there are different species of aliens, some are intelligent and use other species to their advantage. So I guess the final conclusion is that headcrabs are a form of lower intelligence and their actions are solely based off of instinct.

I guess Half-Life 2 is consistent because you never see the headcrabs actively working together with the Combine.

No, headcrabs aren't pets to other aliens from Xen. They are like wild animals if you compare to tigers, lions, etc, they will attack if they are in danger (I think) or if they want to control over one's body. But these are my hypothesis.

Combines are just using the headcrabs for their biological weapon against the resistance. By the way, where did those black poison headcrabs come from?

So here's my first question...did you play Half-Life1?

Then use a quote, I thought you were replying to me since you posted after my post.

There's a quote. Now stop being so miserable.

I'd personally like to see a Vortigaunt zombie... Maybe in an expansion, eh?

Hey, Hybrid, stop being silly.

Anyway, the headcrabs work for themselves, they serve themselves, they attack because they want a host (not because they are threatened), and it's assumed that they can mature once a host is found, though that is not shown in HL2.

they are like wild aniamls, do you expect a tiger to let you pet them just because they are from the same planet? i didnt think so

Ok, a headcrab now has a host. After they take over the host, then what. Is it like ALIEN the movie? Do they plant eggs or something? Also, how would headcrabs evolve? Assuming the first time they've ever met humans was at Black Mesa. G-Man takes human form, but I would say he is definitely not human, just an avatar of some higher being. So if headcrabs had never met humans before, why would they be perfectly evolved to hop on someone’s head and take over their nervous system?

maybe they did the same to other living being in xen world.

Maybe they improvised? I guess the Xen wildlife is so varied, they have evolved to adapt?
I guess eventually a headcrab evolves into a gonarch. (incase you don't know, the big walking, four-legged testicle in half-life) Maybe they have to headcrab a certain species to become a gonarch though, I don't know, I just can't see a human zombie growing into a Gonarch. Even though those poison zombies are really big.

As Barney put it, their just freakin "Head-Humpers"! :) They remind me of those pukeazoid slime creatures in Duke3D Atomic where all they wanna do is suck your brain out threw your nose.

A headcrab is the same way, instead of leaving you a lifeless body on the floor, they'll turn you into the living dead.

And I don't think being a Zombie will 1 day turn them into that 4-legged freak. As Half-Life: Opposing Force goes, the Zombie gets larger and more disgusting as a "Type 2" or "Type 3" Zombie.

I don't really care though with my MP7 in hand. :sniper:

I'd imagine vortigaunts are immune to the attacks of headcrabs... if I recall they don't fight in hl1, and vorts seem to have no trouble catching and eating headcrabs in hl2
my guess is that their bio-electricity makes them pretty hard to mount
