They were initially going to release three different boxes. The G-Man was on another. I can't remember if that wa just for fun or whether one would have single-player only, the other single and multi-player, etc. In the end it just didn't happen.
And I don't think we'll have to wait five years to find out more about Alyx...

What are you talking about? I went to Hastings and they had the Alyx, Gordon, and G-Man boxes. My mom even said "Are you sure that's the right one? They all have different people" but I had to assure her they were the same (I bought Gordon)
