Why are my fps so low

I started playing dod yesterday afternoon and i noticed that my fps never gets above 30. I have a pentium 4 2.2ghz, 9800xt, 1gb pc 2100 ram. I was just wondering where the bottleneck is occouring.

I get 20-25fps but its still extremely playable, in fact I thought it was 40 till I turned the fps display on

Yeah, my 6800 GT is getting pretty crappy frame rates.

At some places, it will drop to like 15 Fps

I have a 9800pro and I was getting quite a bit of lag until I changed HDR from 'full' to 'bloom only'. Really made a difference.

Yeah, I may do that, I just wish I could get sustainable frame rates with full HDR.

changing texture detail from high to medium helps a lot, or at least for me, and it's not THAT noticeable while running around and shit.. But if you're going to show someone the game, switch it back up to full, only to 'wow them' more.
