So many people seem to think Mossman is a great character. I think she's alright, nothing insanely special.
So why likey?

Most of the characters in HL2 are rather underdeveloped. Mossman just happened to get most of the development.

Lets try again shall we? Most of you morons have been warned.

Mossman certainly is the most complex and developed character, but I wouldn't say the other characters are underdeveloped. I mean, the game takes place within a 3 day span, and you are constantly there AS Gordon. There's only so much you can actually do.

True, the characters are quite well-developed considering the short amount of game time. However, this means that most of the other characters don't have much more development than "smart guy", "cool dad smart guy", "pompous british guy",and "wise-cracking action-hero guy". There's much room for expansion there.

Oddly enough, due to his constant announcements and the in-game back story, Breen is as developed as Mossman, even though you actually only meet him at the end of the game. This is cool.

EDIT: I'm not warned, right? Because I'm too awesome to warn. :P

^. That's funny because it took me 3 days to finish. Just finished 10 minutes ago.

I disagree. I mean, we don't see them develop as characters that much in the time-span (aside from ALyx/Mossman, if you count ep1), but as characters they themselves are extremely well developed. The dialogue is very day-to-day when you see them talking to each other, and it really helps flesh them out, more than making up for the fact that you only see them for 3 days. There's alot of dimension to them, more so than alot of games.

The dialogue with both Alyx and Mossman {as Samon said} is chunky - {bar Breen} the rest of the characters already have a basic backstory from HL so it is unsaid and thus cannot be expanded with hints and little glances.
