Before dishing $50 on this game, I was wondering how well my current system can run the game:

AMD-XP 2000+, 512 MB and a Radeon 8500.

I guess I've been pampered by Counter-Strike into not upgrading but time has changed. i just want playable FPS (60fps at 640x480)...

Thanks.

EDIT: Half-Life 1 engine: Counter-Strike. :E

good lord! radeon 8500???!!! how do you play cs with that?

at that resolution your vid card MIGHT be able to handle it.

here:

Athlon 1.2Ghz (not Athlon XP)
512 PC133 ECC
Radeon 9800XT
Sound Blaster 128 PCI

it's barrely playable... this game is like Flight Simulator : a cpu game more than gpu ! the physics take great amount on cu time

i get 45-55 fps in buildings and 9-17 fps outside

yo doc, your processor needs more power, 1.2ghz just isnt enough. id recommend at least 2.0

So... I need to upgrade my CPU to at least what? And how about my videocard? =P At least a 9700?

i know this is a temporary pc.. when i'll get back my job i will build a better pc like my old one (3200+ FSB400, 1GB DDR400, FX5700 Ultra, etc)

higher cpu you can affort and for the video i recommand 9500 and up because of the vertex and pixel shader version

two greats card not too expensive are 9600XT and 9800PRO

9800PRO can be converted to XT with a firmware upgrade

yeah sorry i'm in a over-excited state caused by a severe abuse of a fps game you might have heard of..

right now, everything on ur comp is good, except a lil upgrade, if you can get an upgrade to a 3.0 or higher, your going to be playing on almost highest settings smoothly

Dude you can buy a 9600xt for pretty damn cheap, and that would boost your performance a tonne.

So you guys think i can squeeze out 40-50 fps at 640x480 at the lowest setting? Cause a new computer isn't cheap...
