Im on a wireless at college and every minute or so it pausees for a few seconds....Its a problem because when im playing, it usually gets me killed....anyone else having this problem?....and does anyone know any ways to fix it? even the lynksys people dont know

yes, u have to disable something in xp, google it i forgot where to go to disable but its a big problem for gaming. for some reason linksys wireless routers and xp don't get along. also when u disable it u have to enable before u turn off ur computer or it might not connect when u get back..ehh its a long story if u want i can send u my little files that do it automatically but u probably think its a virus so...just google something like counter strike linksys lag or something like that, thats what i did to find it, i still get god awful pings quarter of the time, when i go to broadband checker it rates very nicely 300k or so but on gaming...its shit something 50 ping sometimes 280..its real dumb, stupid xp

I had a similar problem. The solution I found was to turn off Microsoft's Wirless Zero Configuration, which I believes scans for wireless networks every few minutes.

Right-click My Computer --> Manage... --> Services and Applications --> Services --> Right-click Wireless Zero Configuration in the list on the right --> Stop

I usually do this after each reboot.
I hope that helps.

redwagon, did i just play u on hl2dm? yeah tahts the fix, easier way is to make a script that does it for u, thats what i do but its still stupid sometimes, i swear it theres performance loss somewhere in there too
