Worth Buying BF2??

I got a nice gift card to get rid of here, and its summer, and I haven't really had a good game to play in awhile.....
So is it worth it to go out and buy Battlefield 2 this late in the game?
Are there a lot of good servers/people playing?
Have the patches considerably fixed performance/bugs from when I last played the demo?
Is it fun?

BF2 is a very funny game... I absolutely hate it, it sucks, but I can't stop playing it. It gets worse with each patch.

Pretty cheap now. Lots to do, online games are always different. It should be part of your online gaming collection i'd say. But just check theres nothing else you desperately want first. The new patches have bothered me in the slightest, as long as your not connected to the hip with the game.

What SixThree said sums it up perfectly. This is one of the strangest games you'll ever play. At some points when you're getting raped by jets or just picked off by a sniper you'll simply want to take the disc and start smashing it with a hammer. But yet, you simply won't stop playing. It keeps bringing you back for more. Seriously, you'll never have hated and loved a game so much at once. So in short, get it.

It's pretty enjoyable in a huge group, but gets annoying because the majority of servers are filled with Stat-whoring cun*s that constantly base rape, i wish they'd just die !

i play every now and then. If there's any time to get this game, its now. After everything has been patched up.

You have missed the spectacle of the horrendous anti air assets becoming godlike anti air and then into normal anti air.

you have missed the choppers that could rape a map with impunity and took 2 tank shell to take down

you missed the grand spectacle of players with squad level machine guns being effectively useless in combat to being laser accurate, and now at a compromise

also you missed jets dominating the entire game.

So yeah the game is a lot more balanced now and a lot more fun.

Happens still, all depends on the pilot (or J-10).

And Garfield_ where do you live? The ping issue isn't as big of a deal as other games like CS, being 100-150 is very playable (I personally don't notice a thing).

The best for me is grunting it with a squad of your friends. I've had some absolutely excellent games on city maps with other hl2.netters... THAT'S when it's the best.

I play with all the UK'ers with excellent pings.

BF2 can be extremely fun when playing with friends. Problem is, that doesnt happen much anymore with the HL2.netters.
