Anyone notice that he actually selects the crossbow instead of the smg in the new bink? Just thought it was interesting.

huh? how do you mean?

I noticed that too, but I don't think it equals the end of the world.

true not even near the end of the world. more importantly how the hell is aluminium produced

i had to dubbel check, and your right.. thats wierd?

Yeh i noticed that too, but he could have pressed a keyboard button, just like how he draws out the manipulator withought going through the list.

But normally in menus like that (i'm taking CS:S as an example) you have too click on the weapon that is selected to get it. Also just had a look at the e3 2003 binks and they don't have the same problem!

Don't worry about it, I'm sure Valve know about it. It takes minutes to fix a GUI bug like that, they just swap the image files around.

I'm more concerned about the grenade launcher on the MP7.

You would say that wouldn't you? You're far too calm for my liking. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to my fallout shelter - a-hard rain's gonn' fall and youse gonn' pay.

I think what happened was that the player was about to select the crossbow but then realised that the SMG would be a better option. The SMG was the last weapon the player had selected before the shotgun and so they pressed Q to quick-switch to the last weapon used.

its because the mp7 icon is just an mp7, and the one that he gets from selecting the 'crossbow' image, has the grenade launcher in it. it was just made that way for the e3 demo, i wouldnt let it bother you.

or maybe the guy hit 'q' for quickswitch because it was the last weapon he used and he didn't feel like using anything in the menus. Of course, i'm not completely positive about this. I'm sitting at school right now, so i can't watch teh vid to find out....

Cheese fries!

i havnt got the vid with me either, but im pretty sure that if you look at the ammo counter from the mp7 before he switches away from it, its a different amount to when he switches to the one that can fire grenades. there wont be 2 versions of the gun in the final version, just for that demonstration.

Hm, yeah that's a damn water-proof theory.

Its the same in the E3 Demo...
After all its the same thing. The bink is just a prettier version.
Its an old build of the game, don't concern yourselves.

this was dicussed when we first saw the low resolution videos ages ago. basically the crossbow has been disabled for the purposes fo the demo and the games has defaulted back to the next best weapon in that catagory (which is the mp7) thats all, its not a bug, they just didnt want you to see thee crossbow back then and siceits the same omovie now (just in bink format) the cotent remains unchanged

Wow, Call me Mr Crazy but I think El_Chi's idea works a lot better.

In Bodhi's defense, we have yet to see the crossbow so he does have a point there. ;)

relax, its in there. its probably all in there. They're just squishing minor bugs, like testing AI responses, and going through the game like 20 times a day, putting on invincible mode and see where the enemies go and make sure, they dont bug out. All Guns, all items are completed. its just the AI and timings. they DID mention that they had to find a threshold between them talking to you and them reacting to outside events, which they emphasized. thatd be the most time consuming part, replaying the scene hundreds of times. I bet they're just fine tuning that. Thats my assumption.

omg, maybe he pressed '3' again milliseconds before he pushed the mousebutton? ffs, stop open threads about stupid 'bugs' from builds that are older than two months :stare:

:dozey: Which new binks? I just started to get them, I've got the Ravenholm, tenements, coast, and trainstation.

i really dont see the point of this thread anymore. i mean its not a bug in the first place. and do you really think that after all the playtesting thats been done no-one would realise (and this is assuming there actually is a bug - which there isnt) that selecting the crossbow resulted in the mp7 coming up? i know valve are a bit lax with security and sticking to dates and such, but come on - they are not stupid

not really, the game isnt complete in the video's , but that was recorded like 6 months ago, so you would expect little things to be missing.

If the AI is that good you would think some enemies would eventually figure out that you not going to die after they have hit you loads of time and then just walk off or somin. This of course is with a god mode on.

lol, imagine them just stopping attacking and actually retreating so you can chase them down. Thatd be realistic, but then again, they're brainwahsed to kill you until they die.

Did you not play HL. If the retreating isnt in HL2 then the AI has gone down since HL. Anyone who has played HL will clearly remember after grunts take a few hits they retreat, often holding there leg. Also more often than not they placed a gren at there feet before they ran so it would blow you up if you tried to follow. HL still arguably has the best AI in a FPS. If all that AI stuff in HL isnt in HL2 and more then it will suck. Nothing was better than trying to hide from the grunts on a balcony and having 20 volleys of grens thrown at you, then you started screaming like a little school girl.

i really believe its the same video they showed on e3 2004. so wtf worry about bugs that are older than Zzz> SL ?

and this will delay the game for...like 5 minutes?
well, let me think.
video from e3 -> e3 was in may 2003 -> may is before september 30 -> game delayed from september 30 -> years pass -> new video, bug still not fixed, hmm??
I believe that this bug is the sole cause of the 'slippage' from the original release date. yup.

I think some people are getting confused,, to straighten it out.

the bink was from may 2004's E3, it was shown after the Eli lab scene if I remember correctley. and it is totally identical, only in bink format,

The video would of been recorded before E3 in may 2004, then... seen by the public as the latest build of the game.

so this video was recorded around 6, 7 , maybe even 8 or 9 months ago to date, it's most likely an imcomplete build, showing the actual game level's that where nearly complete, or had already been completed.

GREAT THANKS AUSCROW. THANKS TO YOU HALF LIFE 2 IS NOW DELAYED UNTIL JANUARY 2005. ANYONE ELSE CARE TO POINT OUT MORE FLAWS AND DELAY THE GAME FURTHER?

:smoking: ;) :naughty:

YES. RELEASE THE GAME WHEN THE FANS ARE MATURE ENOUGH TO POST ON FORUMS ABOUT IT.

Seriously.. it's one little thing that's been discussed to death since the e3 video-camera footage was released. The game will be fine... there's no way valve will let that sort of bug stay in a released version.
