Wtf!?! Help!

Whenever I download new maps, then try to start Half Life 2, it says "Validating Steam files" and starts loading with a little progress bar. Can you guys help? IT TAKES ALMOST 30 ****ING MINUTES! It starts at 0%, then goes really fast to 33%, then goes SO slow. I started 17 minutes ago and its only at 46%. I think its happening to alot of people, but can someone maybe tell me a fix? I cant play games very much and I hate wasting my time like this.

We all gotta deal with it, dude...try some time management. You know, start the game (so it starts validating), then go get a shower or do some homework.

Mine, for the first time, took about 10 minutes... why there are so many ppl saying that it went all night over?
