Ok....everyone remember that whole Valve is playing HL2 online right now!! , thing yesterday?

Well how many of you kind of tryed to get into the game?? It took you to the HL1 screen and it started to initialize, but it wouldn't go very far.

WELL

Last night I was trying to fix this crap with my TS server, and I went into my HL folder and I saw this....

HalfLife23.jpg

At first I got all excited, thinking mabie hl2 had preloaded a little or something. But then I realized "hey....why would HL2 go into the HL1 folder :) ".

SO, I figure what ever that HL2 thing was on steam last night, it tryed to install or start something. Only it just couldn't.

This is all that was in the file.

HalfLife24.jpg

The save folder was emptie, and the config file had just everything that should be in it for a multiplayer game of HL1.

So what do you guys think that game of HL2 was yesterday??
Cuz I'm stumped.

(and NO, I don't think it actually is HL2 or anything. At least not what was trying to dl on my comp)

check out those completely illegible screenshots.

I have that folder too since I tried to connect.. interesting!

Once again, HL2.net will get to the bottom of this.

FFS, it's obviously a mod that someone made to appear like HL2 in a server browser.

Lol, your email is ... well, I won't say it, but it's on the SS lololololol.

lol hahaha.. I just noticed that too

The guys hosting that server are using the leaked alpha or whatever (I'm guessing), because there's a sub folder called "hl2" with maps and stuff. Steam automatically creates a config file/dir of any unknown "mod" (folder) when connecting to the unknown mod server. Or something like that!

Oh yeah, I see it.

Heh. I almost forgot to block out the one at the top :hmph:

What ever.

The only reason I do that is because someone from these forums had gotten my password somehow and was messing with my sig on here and then tryed to lock my out of my e-mail by changing the password. What friggn' dumbasses :dozey: .

I tried to goto that "server". I posted it in the thread that was going at the time.

I have the same thing in my folder.. i dotn think its anything special

I wasn't saying it was real. I was saying it downloaded crap on my pc. Nothing weird or anything, but its still something.

It didn't download anything, Steam generated that info trying to join.

the same guy that gave the explanation also thinks that the max possible players in hl2 is 36...(when gabe has already said that the max players in hl2 will be by default, 128, but that it would also be easily possible to mod the game and set the max players to 256)

I don't recall Gabe saying the default was 128..

He said 128 could be done out of the box, but would be a bit server intensive, and hard on the client.

He said 64 would be the best. And that 256 is possible

i know somebody who's gonna be getting some gay porn in his e-mail tonight

kidding of course

lol nice try but i can still see you're on sbcglobal.net. haw haw haw.

I still don't see any "HL2" folder on my computer. I looked in 1.5's folder (cause thats what game i joined it through, because HLSW was setup that way) and in Sierra\Half-Life(\valve) nothings there 'hl2' wise.

so 80 is pefectly fine then...?, hmm Im not sure if Hellraiser knows what hes chatting about. He got that fact wrong, seems a bit know it allish.

does he manage steam from valves's end..? How do we know that it wasnt totally real,,

for starters. the scores kept updating..

*sensitive: the d2_coast maps in the beta wouldnt allow multiple players to work, apart from the host, any other players would freeze on the spawn point, and couldnt even fire.*

I guess we will never know.

Noclip.

*Says no more*

Noclip isn't enabled by default for the clients, but there are still ways to get around it. They could always add additional spawnpoints in another build of the map.
