Gordy offs Nihilanth, they no longer have to subdue to that pulsating over-grown foetus and, as a gesture of gratitude and a desire to get back at their old "masters", they team up with humans.
That's my version of events.
Race-X have bugger all to do with Xen, and seeing as AntLions etc. were hardly friendly to Gordon, I think it's safe to assume the other Xen beasties aren't overly keen on puny Earthlings.
