xsi error need help

i got an error in xsi i have never had before. basicly when i try to open the scene file of a model im working on it says xsi cannot open this model because you failed to save properly last time. is there anything i can do? i do have an old version of the model that i can work from so it aint a fatal loss but a good few hours lost.
