I'm almost positive that the machine was sabotaged, but it's still unclear enough that it's impossible to say anything with total certainty.

I, personally, doubt it was "sabotage," per se. The resonance cascade was almost certainly a planned (or, at least, planned FOR) event, with the usual suspects being the G-Man and the Administrator.

As for the soldiers speculating that it was sabotage, it makes sense that thinking like that would have been encouraged...or, at the very least, not discouraged...amongst the Marines. It would have encouraged the Marines to see Gordon as a "villian."

And so on. The administrator apparently pushed the scientists to overload their equipment. Not exactly sabotage, but almost. Why the administrator would want to cause such an accident is anyone's guess (or, perhaps he was simply arrogant and didn't think that anything could go wrong).

There's extra information pointing to sabotage in both Decay and Blue Shift. Things the scientists say, though I can't remember exactly what off-hand. Something about security systems being disabled.

Well it's an official expansion, all of those were made in consultation wih Valve.
Plus it explains some things in HL1, like why Gordon had to fire that rocket
So imo, yes it is.

Is a summary of that part of Decay invloving the rocket.

If you pause the game while that scientist is talking theres an aditional bit of speech that gets cut off, he says:

You dont get to hear what the rest was because the line was cut off there, It seems most of the scientists were unhappy about pushing their equiptment too far but were willing to take the risk. Theres other lines in the paks where the machine gets shut down.

I think it probably was sabotage, maybe thats what the G-Man and the scientist were arguing about behind the glass.

I haven't played Decay and I'm not sure what you're talking about in Blue Shift, but I do remember a line about the security systems being disabled. They run the antimass spectrometer up to 105% in order to get a better reading of the sample, and they have to disable the security/safety systems in order to do so. I can't remember exactly where I heard that, though.

use a program that unpacks the gcf, gcfscape i think is one google it, it can take out the files u want and u can extract them somewhere and play them.
