i think you got to have a steam accout its free .. and all you do is add your cd key from the retal box

but surely valve will not leve the ppl out that dont have internet connection

You will only need the Steam program to play. You don't have to buy it online, you can buy the CD / DVD from a store.

And I'm sure (well, it makes the most sense) that if you buy the CD / DVD, it will have Steam on the disc itself for those who don't have internets. That way they can play offline/ don't have to get steam from the net.

You will need Steam to register your copy to VAVLe and to play online... I am sad too cause I dont have steam I should get it soon though as I will only play CS:S and DoD:S online and maybe HLDM (is there gonna be one?) for the manipulator

Steam will come with HL2, and Steam really isn't as bad as the majority of people make it out to be. It aint as good as All-Seeing-Eye but its still good

In my golden game years, I use to be a major pirate. But then, with all the major campaing against it, I felt bad. When I saw that major company went AWOL because of piracy, I stoped.

Now I don't play that much, but the few games I buy, I buy them original.
