I thought the idea of mutant zombies, aliens from planet zog and that crap sounded terrible so I avoided it when it first came out.
I went into the shop one day to buy some game but they didn't have it. Half-Life was there, I looked at the box and wasn't impressed but it did have the words...
Here's my effort :)

~1 MB (Requires xvid codec).
I think MJ's Thriller video would be excellent spoof for HL2.
Is it a HL2 map or a CS map? If you add a prop_static entity and set it's "world model" to a weapon you can see it in the game. You can't pick it up though.
Another Alan Partidge quote "Sh*tty Zombies!" would be appropriate. :) (second series episode 3 I think).
Instead of "Strider!!" you could have The Fast Show's "Brilliant!!"
I've always liked Blackadder 4's General Melchett, I can imagine the wacky preist bloke having his quotes. "That's the spirit, if nothing else works then a total pigheaded unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through." "The hero of Umboto Gorge mad? Why you've only got to look at...
I don't think anyone would be against signing a map really, as long as it's not obtrusive. I certainly sign all my work in one way or another. pur3r4ge does look a bit like a random collection of letters and numbers though but maybe that's just me.
Is the chainlink fence texture from a model?
The model textures mess things up and turns thing black I've found. Dunno what you do other than try a different texture and see if the same happens.
I think you're taking it all a bit too seriously, I think most of the "mistakes" could be explained away by the fact the mod's set in the future and things have moved on a bit from springs, cocking handles and wings that hold magazines in. Everyone knows twiddling knobs to adjust scopes was...
You could photoshop's "add noise" filter to it to break it up the colour a bit, put gradients on it and all sorts of stuff. Probably the easiest way is to cheat and take an existing texture that looks similar to what you want from HL2 or somewhere, and in Photoshop adjust it's colour to purple.
