It does this on me, untill i took -dxlevel 81 out of launch options and put mat_dxlevel 81 in my autoexec.cfg. Try it and post back.

HL" and its mods wil lnot let me change settings, everytime i do then quit the game and go back onto it, there all back as default. I'm triyng put AA on and shadows on low. Help :(
