did you read the article or did you see the word "racism" and immediately jump to the defense of god knows what without knowing the full picture just because you falsely perceive this as yet another minority who cries racism for the sake of it? in every situation you say exactly the same thing ..are you saying it never happens? that in every single case it's a case of victems falsely crying racism just because they're black and can get away with it? ..(here's your cue to start with the "why is it never racism when a black guy calls a white a racist name" .etc)

Yes I read the article, and have a hard time believing this is true racism. For example let's take this little snippit:

Obviously there has to be more to the story, or a misunderstanding on someone's part. It's not right to just go and assume "racism!" every time the one who gets the shit end of the stick is a minority. I'm not saying actual racism never happens..I just don't see any solid proof other than "the hall monitor is white and the girl who pushed her is black" to consider this to be serious racism. And yes, I frankly am sick of the race card being played constantly, glad to see you noticed that.

A white man kills a black woman and her grandchild, and he gets off with sending a fine Christmas jingle to the affected family.

A white girl burns down her ****ing house and gets off with probation for an act that endangers more people than herself, while a black girl gets seven years for a ****ing shove?

There is clearly a double standard in place here. Racism isn't some alien concept, especially not in the deep south. Just think for five seconds. Seems like it would take nothing short of a lynch mob to convince some of you people.

Teacher's aides are usually other students around here, so I think that's kinda weird.

Actually, I think this is fairly surprising. We all know racism exists, and we all know it is quite widespread, and we all know it causes deaths in some places every day - but I for one, and call me naive, am pretty gobsmacked this still goes on in the heart of apparently civilised countries.
 
Zeus, what is your problem with the groups you mentioned.

I don't know what makes you think you, a reasonably well off white kid, has the right to slander and call for the abolishment of groups such as the ones you mentioned that do good work helping people who's lives have been ruined by racism.

the way it's worded is very misleading ..whites are not the minority as the article suggests ..50.2% are a mix of hispanic and black/other races ..so white is still the majority race at 49.8%


but it does make for alarmist sensionalist "journalism" ..and sensationalism sells

That has nothing to do with it. Fact is, those programs were all set up in the 1920s when racial equality was a huge problem! Nowadays, they are the purpetrators of racism about 95% of the time, if not more...Sadly this crappy little town in Texas is the other 5%.

BUT, fact is, these programs are all for the social equality of other races. They go overboard now, putting up fights that dont need to be fought, going all out saying this dumb guy with a 5th grade education didnt get a job at a big corporation because his competition was a white guy who was a college grad and excelled in that particular field.

Save for this town in Texas, the rest of the country has apologized about the racism in the past, and moved on. Its these organizations that keep trying to bring it back up, hoping for a fight.

They need to be closed, pure and simple. They achieved their goals 50 years ago...
 
Right, because the passing of the civil rights act in 1964 was the end of racism in america.

why is it that so many people leap into this issue over the racist aspect? I mean it's almost as if the 14 yr old girl doesnt exist ...that the only real issue is whether it was discrimatory or not ..well who ****ing cares? regardless if it was racism or not a 14 yr old girl will lose a large portion of her young adulthood because of a stupid offense prosecuted by people too stupid to see the difference between crime of circumstance and life long criminal ..if americans are not alone in stupidity, which I agree they are not, they surely go out of their way to defend stupidity at every turn

if she were white this wouldnt have happened ..read the article ..and who in their right mind would judge this issue justified on the basis of the colour of their skin? the upraor would be the same regardless of what colour she is ..key words here:

I agree the people who prosecuted her with such a penalty are stupid, but do you really have to say ALL the people in the US are stupid, Stern? Its not like any US poster here thinks it was a just sentence.
