Is there any way to render out a video for youtube that is at a native resolution of 1920x1200? I know youtube only supports 1080, which is stupid. How would I go about rendering a 1920x1200 video to 1080 and have it look good?

Uh, resize it to 1920x1080? You'll have two vertical black bars on the sides, but thats the best way honestly. Just use whatever software you're rendering it out with.

Yeah... that's what I ended up going with. Thanks.

They would be horizontal lines wouldn't they?

I dunno, I've a history of getting these things wrong...

Both Horizontal and Vertical actually. Have to uniformly shrink it.

You should never have both horizontal and vertical black bars... That just means your video isn't scaled up to fit the output frame fully.

Like Krynn said, scaling down a 16:10 video to a 16:9 frame should result in vertical black bars on the left and right.

Well then, apparently I did it wrong for my arma 2 videos.

Hmm... also, youtube says my videos can now be longer than 15 minutes. How the hell do I see the actual length my videos can be?

Seems to be conflicting.

EDIT: I did some research, and found this information. The following isn't my writing.

Youtube is getting ready to roll out unlimited length video uploads to all non partners that have no abuse strikes against them and that play by the rules. This is about time! Been a long time coming! They can now do this because the kinks were worked out of the technology infrastructure to be able to flag abusive channels on the fly, I think. When you
upload a video and get the notification:
'Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes. Click the Upload button below to select a video.'

This means your switch was thrown and you can now upload videos of any length and up to 20 GB in size.

EDIT: Some official information right here below.

Up, Up and Away - Long videos for more users

Your creativity isn’t bound by a time limit, so why should your video uploads be? Back in July we raised the upload limit to 15 minutes for all users. Starting today, we’ll begin allowing selected users with a history of complying with the YouTube Community Guidelines and our copyright rules to upload videos that are longer than 15 minutes.

So go find that movie you wrote and filmed last year and share it with the world! Or upload your son’s championship high school basketball game or the insightful lecture you just gave on the emerging economics of green tech. As long as it’s your original content, it’s fair game regardless of length.

This launch has been made possible in part by the continued advances in our state-of-the-art Content ID system, as well as our other powerful tools for copyright owners. Over 1000 global partners use Content ID to manage their content on YouTube, including every major U.S. movie studio and music label. We remain as dedicated as ever to building and improving the most sophisticated technology in the world to help copyright owners protect their rights.

Just click the “Upload” button at the top of the site to see if your account qualifies. And remember, if you’re uploading a video that was previously rejected for being too long, go into “My Videos” and delete the old video before uploading it again.

That lunaticred site is ****ing ugly and annoying as ****.

I forgot to remove that part. I found the information on a google search, copied the chunk of text, but a script on the site injected the information to read more at the link.

I have removed it.
