3rd Party Games installation help

Is there a specific folder I need to install 3rd party games into the have them work? I have the HL2 collectors edition on DVD-ROM that includes half life: source and counterstrike: source, and the only 3rd party app to install correctly is garrys mod. Can anyone tell me the file path I need to install these games to, to access them through steam? Thanks for any help.

Put it into SourceMODs folder.
\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods

yeah whites right, but the newest garry mod comes with an installer which detects that folder for you i believe so even easy.

It doesn't work. Does anyone else use the collectors edition? I am trying to install some of the games off the "browse games" list on Steam. Sven Co-op, The Specialists, Natural Selection etc. Does anyone have these games installed?

This mods are not SOURCE mods, but for Halflife 1, so they must be installed normally to your Halflife folder.

And you have to have Half-Life 1 installed to play Half-Life 1 mods. :dozey:

So can you not play them with "Half Life - Source" Provided on the HL2 collectors disc?

Correct. You can only play HL1 Mods in regular HL1, not HL: Source.

There's a whole bunch but most of them are mini-mods right now.
