Hello to you. I'm Niosis, I play CS, you don't know me or care to know me. I know Ova(god rest his soul).
The statement .9(repeating) = 1 makes absolutely no sense to me. I've reviewed the wikipedia article on it and I've still been baffled as to how anyone accepts .9(repeating) to be equal to 1.
For starters, .9 repeating is a DECIMAL, a decimal is PART of a whole number by definition, so how can a decimal equal a whole number?
Secondly, .9(repeating) is infinite, it's constantly growing, never stopping. 1 is a whole number. It is not infinite, nor is it constantly growing.
How can these 2 things be equal? I understand you plug them into a few crap formulas that don't accomodate infinitesmals and then say "LOL LOOK IT EQUALZ 1", but when you look at the two numbers seperately, that really makes no sense.
