a New media player

I have made my own media player and i decided to show you guys before maybe releasing it to the public as a sorta beta test if you will.

I made it using Visual Basic and please, dont laugh at the design, I am a coder not a layout guy.

Whats supposed to happen when i right click a song on my playlist?
I just get an error when i do about the path not existing :/

I like the add directory feature, its slow, but it adds every song on my second drive
(Which are assorted into a bunch of different folders and subdirectories)

Eek, there should be a way to stop it though
When i click on a directory when its doing it, i get an error message that keeps looping XD
(really annoying )

If i press copy some, then press cancel, it crashes

You should make it so it only displays media files
(I thought that was what the extension list on the top right was for, but that doesnt appear to actually do anything at all...)

The find button doesnt actually seem to do anything either...

not realy sure how i did this.. but now it's playing the same song twice at the same time at two different spots
(I think i went detach video, pressed play, moved the status bar)

looks like you pasted windows media player into visual basic does what it needs to do though.

right clicking should open up the folder that the file is in. It works for me, I'll have to look at that

ya the add directory feature was really the main reason I made the player.

I understand that its annoying. I believe that I can make a button to stop it.

haha ya. the copy some is very buggy. I made it quickly and didn't spend too much time on it.

Visual basic doesn't let you change the filter during runtime, idk y it just errors tho. the list at the top is a filter for the add directory feature. It will only add the extenstions listed there.

ya detach video plays the song in completey different way. And with it the progress bar doesn't work anymore. I might be able to fix that, let me check.


i did use the wmp control. I originally didn't and I made my own progress bar and everything. But I prefered the wmp control because it allowed it to play movies in the same window. The other way i did it played the videos in a popup window.

i started this before .net came out. I tried to convert it to vb.net and it broke it. So i kept it in vb6. I think youre right that i will love C# but i dont want to redo it all.

um i fixed some of the features
1) add directory can now be stopped
2) I made the next, prev buttons prettier
3) I fixed find
4) made it so the extension changer does work. I was wrong that it wouldn't.

look at my post count. people who give viruses out make new accts that way if they get banned its not a huge deal. If someone has over 600 posts, I think you can trust that they will not try and screw the rest of the forum.

And also, you're not the first to dl, and other ppl have commented on the prog so obviously its not a virus.

I get offended easily when someone I dont know insults me. I am much better at detecting sarcasm when its directed to other people. Its just cuz I am paranoid.
