A New Take on a HL MOVIE

OK. So many of us, including myself, disagree with the idea of a Half-Life movie being made. After all, we are Gordon Freeman, every single one of us who has played the Half-Life games.

The deliemer is though, I'd still think a Half-Life movie would be cool if someone could pull it off... And since Gordon being the main character of the movie is simply not an option...

What if the Half-Life movie concentrated around a different character? Yes, I'm talking about a Half-life movie adaption through the eyes of a Marine, or even another scientist, much like the addons for the game - While still keeping close to the original story of the game.

Just think - The beauty of this would be that, we never met every single Marine, Scientsit or security gaurd in the original game. Now just because the main character might be a security guaurd, does not mean he won't catch a glimpse of Gordon running round.

Don't flame me - It's a mere suggestion for another take on a Half-Life movie. Tell me what you think.

I'm making a CGI movie with XSI about a made up character.

The general in control of operations at Black Mesa after the incident. It will begin right after where HL1 ended and end with the seven hour war's ending.

It will include him having orders to arrest Dr Breen and bring him before a UN council to explain his actions.

I just got Foundations and now it is time to begin.



Possible ending? Advisers taking him and turning him into a combine general on a "permanent off world assignment"

you know every once in a while it switches to like first person and stuff like that

I know Gordon doesn't talk in the game, that's because he's an avatar not really a character. That rule has to change though, for making a movie about it.

The only reason Valve isn't doing a Half-Life movie is because all the scripts hollywood has given them have been shit. This has to do with the script, not the money which I think is great; unlike Id.

indeed it was but i was just thinking to include the switching to first person every once in a while would be a tad bit more like being in game
now as it was the worst movie ive seen in a while i can say that the whole first person effect WAS a bit on the interesting side

Bacons, you just contradicted youself saying that Gordon was the main chracter, then you said he was instead an avatar and not a character at all?

Besides that. I was still suggesting the orginal HL story line for a movie, just not the main character be Gordon. Maybe you could catch glimpses of Gordon through out the movie like if someone sees him running round - but like you said, if you wanted to make a movie which soley concetrated around Gordon, the rules have to change. And no one wants the rules to change, because that would be changing half-life and that would make a crappy movie adaption of yet another great game... Which in turn would totally suck.

or hell Alyx's point of view

Probably a Marine or Security gaurd we don't know of yet though... Cause if it was alyx, or barney, they'd be seeing Gordon and having conversations with him a lot...

Why not just a movie about a Marine sent in under unknown circumstances to assinate Gordon Freeman at Black Mesa? Then suddenly he finds himself in a testing facitlity full of aliens. Like shepard pretty much.

well... how about one with maybe... OH!!! a resistance fighter who documents his experiences with a video camera like first-personish, or it would be entirely first person from gordon's point of view, neat?

yea like remember in halo 1 in 343 guilty spark when chief finds Jenkins's helmet and you see it all happen from jenkins's point of view, anybody remember?

Do you have any previous CGI animation experience? A team could do a decent length movie in a few years. What can you do alone?
