I've played Deus Ex:Invisible War demo yesterday and greatly stunned by its wonderful dynamic lighting.
So what about Half-Life2,does this revolutionary sequal use dynamic lighting too?
S.T.A.L.K.E.R is another much hyped game build on DirectX8.0 technology. If you have already watched the trailer of the game you must find its graphics look at least as good as Half-Life2. Now it seems people want STALKER more than any other games. The blackout of Half-Life2 should be ended,or I'm afraid more people will lose interest in this giant.

Whatever happens,I still think Half-Life2 will be the best.

Sorry if it had already been discussed.

No, Half-Life 2 will not have dynamic lighting (in the game).

Edit: Yay! I'm finally a Zombie!... That's funny... my penis doesn't look any bigger... ;)

is the Deus Ex 2 demo worth the 200+ mbs???? downloading now and would like to know...

HL2 - yeah, it didn't appear to have dinamic lightning in the movies...

If you've got a fast connection, I guess... just go eat a sandwich while it's DLing. That way it won't feel like a waste of time.

no,the DEMO sucks hard! only the dynamic lighting struck me.
Deus EX is one of my favorate game, that really let me down.

the lightning is good enough for me... plus, i never played Deus Ex 1, and would like to know how it "feels"to play

EDIT - does the game have anykind of physics??

then it's a must for you to play the game.
it's no worse than a box-office hit Hollywood movie.

Deus Ex has a strong physics engine at its time.

are the physics included in the demo? (sorry if this questions sounds stupid)

i've never played Deus Ex1 demo but I think so.

Oh sure.
By far the best physics i've seen.
Deus Ex:Invisible War use Hovok physics engine-the same as Half-Life2, the two games'physics will be almost the same IMO.

that's all i needed to hear... (hope its better than Max Payne 2 physics... tossing boxes down the stairs runs out pretty quick..)

You've got to be kidding? DX:IW physics are pretty poor. The object physics are pretty much on par with what I've seen of HL2 and MP2, however the ragdoll physics are piss-poor. If you shoot a corpse with a pistol it flies about 100 feet.

HL2 uses a mix of static lightmaps and dynamic lighting. It DOES have realtime dynamic lighting which is often misunderstood because there are still quite a lot of static lights in it.

To be honest I thought DX:IW demo was pretty poor. There's a few things that game is doing wrong at the moment and I hope they get it sorted out. I think the gameplay is still there, but you've got to look hard. I gave up on the demo after 10 minutes.

well, THATS a turn off
EDIT - /me dies

I might give it a second chance and give it a quick go again later. I might be being a bit too harsh.

felling better already... but what about the characters..the defenition?? yare they top notch or not???

it is albe to pick up objects then throw them in DeusEx:invisible war, while you can not do this in Max payne2.

you already did that in Splinter Cell.............

i already did that in Deus Ex1.
the difference is,everything act more realistic.

if the physics of DX:IW are poor then the physics of HL2 wont be good either.

Why would that be?

HL2's physics were heavily coded beyond the basics, DX:IW's were cut down drastically from the basics, perhaps so things would work without tons of slowdown on its precious consoles.

Half Life 2's physics look good. Valve have really gone to town on Havok. What Chris_D was saying was that the ragdolling was acting as though the characters were too light, which is the fault of the people who made Deus Ex 2, not the Havok engine.

how can you know that point?
after all their physics all called Hovok.
however I still hope HL2's physics'll be way better than DXIW and MP2.

We've been told. Not all implementations of Havok are the same.

The idea behind Havok 2 is that developers get the engine, implement it into their game engines and then tweak it to their needs. The code is heavily modifiable which is what Valve did to it. DX seem to have gone over the top with the ragdoll settings. Very unrealistic IMO.

Download the demo and see for yourself. To be honest, parts of it were so bad I missed what was good about it.

it's still my most wanted game.

agreed.

it seems that DX:IW is primarily developed for XBOX not PC.
XBOX ruined the series.

As Chris has said, Havok is just the basic "rules" and programming, its down to the developer to make it work perfectly for their needs. It's a standard practice with high end apps too, very few studios will use Maya or Softimage out of the box, a good percentage of it is rewritten and improved on for their needs.

however I still hope HL2's physics'll be way better than DXIW and MP2.

I'm sure HL2's physics will be far more advanced than DX:IW. I think when they all go head to head HL2 will only be against Stalker's physics which do seem pretty good. Those two games appear to be the ones to watch if you want good physics.

yep, those running the show would have wanted things dumbed down for the console, and for whatever reason that means, or atleast in the demo that the PC version was nothing like what PC owners are used to and expect.

Deus EX's 2 physics suck, just tested the demo... AND it ran crappy on my fx5600 ;(

yeah,
i am so diappointed at the DXIW DEMO.
i know Half-Life2 won't let me down again,
if Half-Life2 sucks i'll shove the cd up my ass.

I hope for the sake of your rectal passage that the physics are good then :)

the physics for the ragdolls in the DX2 demo are flipping HORRIBLE and really POOR its like the dredd Vs Death physics, go play that to see what I mean

I'd say there's a good chance that valve will make sure that the HL2 physics are the best we've seen yet.

We've seen peripheral physics in games so far (MP2, DX2) but they have been little more than objects tossed around the maps... boxes, chairs, bottles and cans, etc. HL2 promises full physical integration.

For example, in MP2, the cars sitting around the missions were static and unmoving (not to mention a lot of the tables and crates.) in HL2, as we've seen, everything is affected by the physics, and thus can be moved, destroyed, thrown, etc.

Would be kind of a bitch if HL2 is gonna be 4 cd's eh? ;)

Spiffae, changed your mind? In another thread you replied that HL2's physics weren't anything special anymore (which I don't agree with)

i dont' recall doing that... do you remember where i said that? I may have said that they had lost their novelty, but their quality will hopefully still be great.
