hmm... what does it matter that HL2 (or any other game for that matter) is 4 CDs? or 5, 6 or even 7?

if the game is good what does it matter how many CDs it takes? surely after installing and playing the SP, pple wouldn't be using those other discs.. hell not even using the first disc.. so why is the number of CDs an issue for some pple?

im curious..

nobody wants to use 1000 floppy disk to store a game right?

i hope there's a dvd version along with cds.

ur comparing a 1000 floppies to 4 CDs? wow.. either u don't know ur math or u suck at exaggerating(sp?)

well then i guess some pple won't buy the game if it is 4 CDs.. even if the game is good huh? hardly..

anyway i hope theres a DVD version as well.. and if there is one, it may just be part of that Collectors Edition thats been talked so much about..

/me wants a plush headcrab toy with his Collectors Edition

yeah i kinda suck at exaggerating.

but 5,6,7 cds are really not that convenient.

4 CDs is more of an arse-load. That's the problem.

so then.. if it does turn out to be 4 or even 5 CDs then u won't be getting it eh Brian? :p

argh

Your whole argument about multiple cd's started from the misunderdstanding of a joke. See my previous post. To paraphrase, someone said that if HL2 sucks they would shove the cd up their posterior. Then someone replied in response to this saying that if it came on 4 cd's that wouldn't be very pleasent.

Thus the reason Brian Damage said 4 cd's is more of "an arse-load".

Hope I cleared things up for you Dr. Freeman.

They've already confirmed the DVD version.

Yes there is dynamil lightning in HL2

you are gog to take my word for it but, i cant be bothered to find an exat quote, but im sure one of the dev's said "why does no one think half life 2 has Dynamic Lightning...it does"

Guys whether hl2 got dynamic or not I am still buying this game.

one reason why I should buy hl2 is: storyline.

Dr Freeman you have to start reading the whole thread or you just look like an idiot...

Ok ZQW here's why Deus Ex 2 physics suck

Its the Unreal Warfare Engine. Not Havok.

If you don't beleive me go into the Deus Ex 2 Demo folder -> System -> SetupWarfareUMOD.ini

Right up the top, plain and simple

[Setup]
Product=UnrealWarfare

Thats why the physics in Deus Ex 2 are crap, compared to Half Life 2. besides. HL2 uses SOURCE not Havok ;)

(Source being a heavily modified version of Havok)

Havok is integrated in DX2. Just because it's the Unreal Warfare engine doesn't mean it doesn't have Havok.

eh?? heh.. Source is the _engine_ itself.. the thing that does all the cool stuff, Havok is the physics engine intergrated with Source and improved upon greatly from the original

Man I love it when people just start talking shit when they have no idea what they're on about.

well I heard someone say that DX:IW engine isn't Unreal Warfare Engine cause Ion Strom don't think that engine can live up to there expectation.

yes,it use Unreal Warfare engine first then Ion Strom heavily modified the engine, just like what Valve did to the Quake2 engine.

Seems the Ion Storm did a crappy thing,i can't see DXIW engine have many advantages than the Unreal Warefare itself.

Probably part of keeping HL2 a secret, and they haven't updated that part of the site.

That is simply not true, it is up to the developer to implement havok correctly, if they dont implement it correctly, the physics will be crap.

DX:IW looks like the develpoers spent very little time assigning mass and elasticity to obects, because the ragdoll's seem to be way overreactive, and everything seems to be very 'light'.

From the Half Life 2 vidz that we have seen, havok is implemented beautifully.

It seems like in DX:IW havok was chucked in as an afterthought and they havent done much work on it at all.

sorry if someone already said this

i got it already,hl2's physics will be good.

Now all i have to do is wating.

I reckon it'd be pretty easy to program in. Just create a kind of force that only attracts things with a material set that includes iron or steel-type things.
