Ace video on Oblivion combat

Saw this already on IGN...

But it's a great video none the less.
Really gives an idea on what combat is like.

Is this the PC Version or the 360 Version ?? also i was just curious, which would you recommend i get ?

Also, i have Elder Scrolls 3 but never actually played it lol, is it worth playing and is it crucial that i complete it before getting Oblivion ?

I read an interview and they said the Xbox 360 version is the same game...but it probably has some small differences.
They also said that you do not need to complete any other Elder Scrolls game to get the story of this one.

If you have an old-gen system, 360... if you have new-gen system, PC.

And I highly doubt you'd have to have played Morrowind to get into Oblivion, they both seem like completely seperate stories.

Thanks :) I'll probably get the PC Version then and hell, i might aswell Install Morrowind now and try it lol

Looking at your signature, it doesn't seem like you'll have much trouble playing Oblivion on the highest settings

Thats a relief then lol, the graphics looked amazing from the videos so i was starting to fear a bit :P

Wrong sadly, it has been stated in interviews that for running the game maxxed like 360, you'll need an X1800 or better/and nVidia equalivents.

I'm at school now tho so can't be arsed to find it, I'm an old-school ES fan but I'll get the 360 vers first, to be able to play it maxxed in 1280x720, then the PC vers when I get my vista computer so I can run it maxxed and by then with alot of mods <3

Well i am upgrading soon anyway, but ill get both versions anyway :)

You could probably run it maxed but then lower the view distance. I doubt the 360 can run it maxed out, so they've probably lowered stuff like the view distance and made it unchangable.

StardogChampion, they'll get shit thrown at'em if they've done that, because they've PARADED the fact that the 360 will be equal to the PC vers maxed, they've stated in interviews as recent as this month that the versions are IDENTICAL graphically.:)
But we can't be certain until it's released.

Yeah, so you fellas with top of the line rigs and you others with a 360, make sure you get some pics up quick so we can see the difference if indeed there is any. I am sure the gaming sites will be all over that too though, so don't go out of your way. :P

If your computer meets this specification, then get it on PC. You will get the added bonus of the TES construction set as well as not paying for mods.

If you computer is slow and/or prefer the 360 controller over the mouse and keyboard then get it for the Xbox360.

Also, i have Elder Scrolls 3 but never actually played it lol, is it worth playing and is it crucial that i complete it before getting Oblivion ?

You could play it if you want, but bear in mind that the gameplay is comparitively different, so if you don't like ES3, then don't let this effect your judgement on buying ES4

I never let other games help me decide wether to get a certain game or not :) i'd rather try them and keep em if theyre great (by buying them of course lol) and if i don't like them then i return em and exchange em :P rather then judging before i try.

Well i seem to meet the minimum requirements ... do you reckon if i pushed for Max graphics and a decent resolution that i'd experience a severe FPS loss or a small but still playable loss ?

I usually read reviews before getting games, or try the demos. I did slip today though, I had the idea of buying Crashday. I don't even know why I did it. Frustrating game to say the least :dork:

Anyway, I have been stalking this game for quite some time, so I know the in's and out's for Oblivion

Upgrading a decent PC soon and getting both versions of the same game? You have too much money, don't you? :stare:

I will do when i get paid again :P ... thing is .. i quit 6th form as i was getting bored from getting taught IT i already knew lol ... so i have applied for a new course at College which doesn't start till September, so i just put in loads of Overtime from now till September ..

I'm at Uni at the moment, and to be personally frank you pay for the facilities and the degree at the end, you don't pay for the lecturers, they just suck b8lls. you probably learn more from reading a book at home than something out their mouths.

[Edit]I just noticed what I did, b8ll = Lucky 8 Ball

Games like this will only come a few times in your lifetime, and are the reason to own a 360 or high end PC.

I should think anyone with a gaming PC should be able to play the game at least at its lowest graphics settings, but I dont know. I will buy the game regardless, and hope for the best. I doublt I can get a decent framerate, but eventually I will have a PC that can play it well.

I feel like, for this game its worth it to buy the game immediately once its available, and attempt to play it on my inferior PC.

When I get a better PC, I can upgrade the graphics settings and get more out of the game.

can't wait

Thing is im a graphics whore, so even if it does kill fps a lil ill still stick it on 1280 x 1024 and the highest settings :P

Sweet, I can't wait...

For Elder Scrolls, the combat is so much better than what we've seen. I really can't wait for this baby to come out, I know I'll be playing it night and day.

But it's still so simple. For our mod, we really want to go above this lame hack 'n slash, button mashing combat. *sigh* Well, we're trying our best. The system we're working on should be quite innovative.
