Problem: Sheperd dosn't have a recognisable face. If I am wrong some one post a picture of him please.

someone would have figured it out

IMO race X was a limeted edition. Made in the factories that make grunts and specificly designed for eatrth combat. After the vortigaunts retook xen race-x was discontinued.

they prob think hes coming back for HL2 because barny did ... an might i say barney must of gone to the gym a whole lot during the time from hl1 an hl2 also he looks alot younger... damn those makeup artists at valve :D

Hey Samon, what exactly is it you hate about Adrian Shepard so much?

Gordon Freeman is frickin cool, Barney Calhoun is frickin cool, Adrian Shepard is frickin cool.

When I replayed through HL for about the 80 bizilionth time shortly before HL2 was released, I didn't just play through HL, I played through HL, OP4 and BS to ensure I had as I see it the COMPLETE original stories before beginning this new one.

As far as I'm concerned the expansions are just as important. Do you just want to be involved in the events of HL or do you want to be involved 3 times over?

Even if you didn't like OP4, it's still a story that's yet to be finished, and I hope that Valve\Gearbox\God realise this and give us some more.

PLEASE.

Just a little bit......?

I don't understand why everyone is so anti-Shepard... I mean honestly, he had a pretty cool role as the righteous marine in OP4, and there's huge potential for him to be "employed" by G-Man. G-Man could use him as a soldier before the return of Gordon in HL2, a type of silent bodyguard for Gordon in HL2, or even as some type of renegade fighter after the explosion at the Citadel. And since this idea of contracts seems to be a hot issue these days, who's to say that G-Man isn't going to sell his contract to Breen? In which case, his role in an expansion could be as either some type of rebel hunter or even as a character who is turned into a Combine soldier in order to stress the dehumanizing aspects of the Combine organization. OR, even better in my opinion, would be that he is sold to Breen by G-Man, and as the Combine soldiers are attempting to chnage him into a Stalker he escapes, has to flee from the Citadel, and eventually joins up with the resistance where he fights against the Combine forces. There we go, that's the PERFECT story for OP42! Just remember you heard it here first.
Oh, and btw, Gearbox could easily give the rights to Valve for Shepard, as long as they were promised some royalties from the sales. Damn benefactors... lol.

Would be cooler to have Shephard fight in the 7-hour war, methinks, when the combine first invaded

Marc Laidlaw wrote the story for Opfor
Fact.

Gearbox only added Race X to give variety to the enemies u face

Go Shephard

Even if Shepard never reapeared, all the OpFor fans could unite and make an uber single player mod, complete with voice acting.

you know scotsman that it currently underway in a mod called shepards tale, but the thing is.. not everyone in the community would EVER be satisfied with the outcome, we all have our own ideas and they cant all be organised into a single game. The thought of the community coming together to form such a game would be cool but!

there certainly is alot of room for such mods to come, but obviously it wasnt just shepard that made op4, it was everything else, the alternate storyline, the friendlies, the enemies, the unseen areas, the new weapons. and as such this should be followed in op4-2 if made.

Shepherd is over and gone. I wish people would just forget about him.

Because the thread itself is specifically about not liking the idea of Adrian Shepherd returning?

I dunno, I enjoyed Opposing Force much more than Half-Life.

Hell parts of Opposing Force were better than HL:2.

I'll go hide in a corner now....

I can see how this is possible. Opposing Force was a very "snappy" game. Barely ever a dull moment, with you moving from set-piece to set-piece. I suppose the way I'd sell it would be "like the Surface Tension chapter from HL1, but stretched over most of the game". Of course, there were bits that brought it all down. The new alien race were extremely "meh", and all in all, the new enemy additions lost something of the Half-Life 1 style. I don't hate Shepherd at all. I just don't see what the point is in bringing back such a character, especially one that has no characteristation.

Well, gearbox would be able to make alot of mony from a half life 2 expansion. And if they do so, why not use shepard.

If Gearbox are allowed to develop an expansion, I'd say it's very likely that they'd continue the Opposing Force storyline. As it is though, Valve has shown no intention of letting anyone do an expansion pack, and Gearbox themselves are busy with other projects.

I don't hate Opposing Force, I just don't think it had the Half-Life feel. Maybe the whole fact that there is "never a dull moment" is responsible for this. HL1 and 2 aren't about constant action, but atmosphere and suspense. That said, I wouldn't mind Shepard being the expack's hero, as long as the game is done well.

Yes, but when gearbox xompletes their other projects it would be an economicaly wise decision to make an op-for 2. The only real hurdle is valve allowing for them to do it.

The thing is tho, apparently Gearbox refuses to do another mod, instead theyll create new games not realted to HL2...

yeh that may well be the case, how will there softwre company ever shaine if they continually use other companies engines and pre-developed software? i doubt they will return for another go at opfor but im sure that maybe another talented software studio possibly looking for a foot in the door could give it a shot?

also opposing force was i guess an expansion to half life but it could just be a modification for half life 2 if thats the way to gain a licence to sell it.

if not, let the community give it their best shot aye
