How you guys think when gman will not need gordon no more for ''services'' will he move on and wake adrian shepiard? Maybe he will be at hl3 if there will be 1..... :O Think about it why els would gman put to sleep adrian? For future services ( i guess you guys know that) So think about it guys maybe adrian will be at hl3 (if Valve will make hl3)

IIRC: Marc Laidlaw has said that he doesn't believe in imposing the limitations of canon upon his writing, and has never directly stated whether Opposing Force is canon or not. Though if it doesn't directly conflict with the story, we can assume it can be called canon. However, because the current story arc is drawing to an end with Episode 3, it is unlikely there will be a place for Shepard to realistically slot in. But perhaps he'll be implemented in future games, if there are any. :)

Imagine his muscular figure standing against the light of the moon as the gman gives a speech saying that our contract is over, and Adrian has come to ensure that yes. So we fight adrian and then we have to fight gman. I think the gman is wrong. The directors are just misunderstood.

How about Shephard somehow became the dominant leader of the combine. Or something like that. And Gordon has to fight him so the Gman could see who is the better one to actually use

I have this terrible sinking feeling that if ever a Half-Life movie is to be made, it will be just like this. :p

I frequent these boards in order to gain new, interesting insight into the world of Half-Life. It's particularly useful when a new episode or game related to the Half-Life universe comes out. I can get other people's opinions on the subject and provide my own, gaining a better understanding and forming cleaner and more concise conclusions from the facts. Unfortunately, there are some issues which cannot be resolved for several reasons.

The first is that there are not enough facts. That is such in this case. Adrian Shephard has not been confirmed as being canon, and so while we can assume he is, we can't assume that he'll be in any future Half-Life games. Any ideas that he will be, or whether he'll be a playable character or an NPC is just that, fantasy. There's no point in 'discussing' it, because it isn't a discussion, it's just a group wank over a good/fun idea and can't help to get the forum to any better conclusion. Sure, he might be in Half-Life 3, or something. But so what? Yeah, you've said it enough times, everything about the issue has been raped to death.

The second involves topics where a conclusion is open-ended. We have facts about the Gman and GLaDOS and we can form ideas and theories about them from where they stand, but after that, theories become stale and overused, and people parade around with these grand ideas with no evidence to back them up. Sure, the Gman might be a 3D projection of GLaDOS, but he might also be Gabe! These theories are completely ridiculous, boring and pointless. They're not putting anything towards anyone's knowledge on the subject, cluttering up the board.

The third is subjects which have been humped over and over again until they're dry. We've all heard these opinions and theories. Sure, they're interesting and might allow people to gain more insight, but the fact that there are two other threads on the same page discussing the same damn thing and about ten others in the archives just make the topic boring!

So yes, it causes me harm indirectly, and it also inconveniences other people. How about you leave the judging of useful topics to people who know what a useful topic actually looks like.
 
IMO it should be a bannable offence to make adrian sheperd threads on the grounds of:

A) They never, ever make sense.
B) He is not going to be coming back anytime soon, not in episode three. Valve aren't that dumb.
C) If we are very lucky, he won't come back ever. Most of OpFor was shit, Adrian sheperd eats shit and he is eating shit in the gmans freaky dimension.

You're missing the point then. He may or may not (probably) be in ep3. Who knows. That wouldn't make us wrong - we're only sick of hearing about it, most of us are not actually saying he will/won't be in it. The point is that the topic has been raped to death, and revisited far too many times - and with no real details or press releases to discuss anyway. It's all just pointless speculation and wild guessing by fans. Again. And again. And again.

Discussions regarding Shephard may be overdone and fruitless at this point.

At the same time, nobody is forcing you to click on these ****ing topics. It's only causing you harm (a thought I thoroughly lawl at) if you're clicking on it, and just in case you didn't know, most of these threads have the man's god damn name on them. Hint hint?

So all I'm seeing here is a newbish topic that would have died a lot earlier if people weren't constantly walking in and acting ridiculously and unjustly butthurt over ****ing nothing.
 
It may be spam, but it's hardly hurting anybody. At worst, it's a minor nuisance that can be easily avoided.

If it's such a huge problem, surely a mod will deal with it.
