So me and my friends want to have airsoft matches with each other. I looked at some airsoft websites and I found some reviews saying gas powered was much better, nono, electric is better, etc.

Can I get some advice from those who've had experience with airsoft weapons? We're looking to play with SMGs and pistols, in an indoor environment (think construction zone).

What are some websites I should be looking at, and what are some specifications I should be aware of, and why? Pros and cons of the different types, and how much it'll cost us is appreciated! Thanks!

Gas is for pistols, electric are for rifles/smg/automatics.

I'd recommend middle-spec electric guns if you're just looking to try it out and not spend much. I haven't been up to date on guns these days, but you should be spending anywhere from 100 to 200 on a mid-range electric gun.

Well from what I've gathered, Tokyo Marui is sechs for high-quality CQB weaponry at reasonable prices.

Also, it's got the FAMAS available. You just can't go against a company that sells an airsoft FAMAS.

And if that's not good for you, there's still the G36C AEG.

You cannot not love something that looks so badass. Admit it.

G36C is indeed the best looking gun next to the mp5k or mp7.

HK knows how to sechs it up.

This is, like, the fourth air soft thread in the past three days.

Not for CQB, thats just inconsiderate.

QFT. I've been witness to my share of missing teeth and bleeding welts from CQB. I'd try to keep it in the "stock" range :|

With that said, CQB is awesome

I've got a gas-powered UZI and it's pretty pimp. The CO2 canisters are fairly cheap.

I have a CO2 Taurus PT99 (blowback, all metal) with extended mag (38 rounds) and semi-auto/rapid fire which is pretty sweet.

For handguns definitely get gas, but you still have a choice between blowback (slide moves back when fired, like a real weapon) and non-blowback ("static" slide) weapons. Apart for being more realistic, blowback weapons tend to be higher-quality (as well as more expensive), and they have a smoother trigger, usually more accurate. Non-blowbacks on the other hand, tend to be more powerful and are more gas-efficient. Personally, I'd always pick a blowback over a non-blowback, just becuase they're so damn awesome and for me easier to shoot with. Also, even though they are more expensive, try to stick to higher-quality manufacurers, you won't regret it. The 3 top manufacturers are considered to be ICS, Tokyo Marui (my personal favourite, the level of detail is just mind-blowing), and Classic Army. I myself am getting a Marui MP5K for my birthday in a few weeks.

Gas for pistols, electric for rifles.

I hear CQB Scotland got some sites a tad close to where I live, but its still too far away for me to really bother with.
