okay, I was playing Ep: 1 today to test my new monitor with it's higher resolution and LCD-ness (my other monitor was an old cathode ray tube monitor), so i was listening to the dev. commentary, and they said it was possible to get to a place where you could get a direct shot at the combine ball sucker-inner-thing (to activate the energy bridge) because it's blocked by the glass.

So i looked around and noticed an opening that has a ledge directly above the ball catcher, and was suprized when alyx followed me to the area. I imediatly thought "well this must be what he was talking about, I DO have a direct shot at the catcher! ^-^

so i picked up an energy ball and shot it at the catcher. "sweet, something i never knew about." strangly, as i walked out of the "catwalk" as i'll call it, the black screen came up, telling me i lost an important mission objective... "wtf? i didn't do anything!" luckaly, i auto saved just before get to the catwalk, so i loaded the game and got to the same place i was before. Alyx was in the same spot as she was before too. 'okay... everything's fine..." I shot another energy ball into the catcher, looked behind me. Alyx's still there...

Then, I pushed her out of the way to get out, and looked behind me and realized that she didn't follow me out. infact, i caught a last-second glimps of her falling into the abyss! "OH! what an idiot, I pushed her off the cliff!" i exclamed. I then loaded the game again and walked onto the catwalk. Alyx right behind me. This time, i tried to push her back to the hallway. However, instead of moveing the way I nuged her, she moved to her left, lined herself up, and tried to JUMP across the gap to the other side! "WTF ARE YOU TRYING TO DO?!"

I even got screenies to proove it! (sorry, I dont have an account for... that one place... i forgot the name as of now. So you're just gonna have to click each one in order to see it all go down. ;()

how could i do that? I'd happily do so to show people.

infact, whilst laying in bed ;ast night, i thought about somthing... What if the bridge were activated prior to her jumping. Because she attempts to jump to the middle of the chasm.

Also, I wasn't able to catch a screenshot, but when her jumping sequence ends, she actually stands in midair for a second, then falls. I guess i'll try activating the bridge first, then doing the... whatever this can be called.

EDIT: ok, I tried activating the bridge BEFORE going out on the catwalk. And It seems I was right. The jump is to get alyx to the bridge quicker and not actually needing to run all the way around. But for some reason, the computer thought that the bridge was there, and tried to jump to it, to no avail.

oh, and a funny look at the early stages of her jump. "don't look at me, keep an eye on where you jump!"

Your save files will be there. I really want to try this out, cause everytime i try it she always waits for the bridge.

ok, i see the files, but how do I know which is which? and when I do find the right one, how do i get it to you guys?

argh, I just found out that you can only have to quicksaves at a time, and I didn't save the spot where she jumps with a normal save!! Alos, while getting the pictures of the catwalk to bridge, i accidentally deleted the quicsave that had the bug, and I can't get it to do it again!! D:

they dont get deleted... They get saved over so they don't take up too much room

but in this, as soon as i MOVED, she moved herself into position and jumped. I was at least 4 feet away from here

And unfortunetly, I couldn't recreate it, each time i tried, when i'd push her, she'd either go back out to the hallway or go to where she WOULD jump but just stand there. No amount of proddng would make her jump.

Music added for more awesome. I couldn't get her to do it by just walking away like normal. You basically have to cross the ledge a bit so that she thinks you've jumped. You can also jump to the other side where the sloped ledge is for the same effect lol.

YES. That is EXACTLY what happened. almost. All i'd have to do is move in any direction, and she'd jump. I didn't need to pretened to jump to the "bridge."
