Alyx!

yes, there is to be much more alyx in episode 1. i wonder if you will ever get to use her gun, the one which HL CTF did a very nice job animating. personally i'm glad that alyx will feature more in episode one:

It's been said that Alyx Vance will have a more prominent role in Episode One than in Half-Life 2. How exactly have you increased her presence/involvement this time around and tell us how this impacts the episode overall?

Robin Walker: In Half-Life 2 you didn't really get to learn much about who Alyx Vance was. Alyx grew up in City 17 and knows a lot more about it than you do, which will be useful to you in a number of ways. Besides being capable in direct combat with the Combine, she's learned a lot about how to deal with their electronics from her father and by building Dog from scrap parts. Alyx is the central character we're focusing on with Episode One, and most of the time will be spent with her. Afterall, she is hawt, pants on fire.

My question (which I think might of been answered in a different interview that I haven't read) is do you actually play as Alyx, or does she just follow Gordon around allot more? I know this was answered awhile ago, but I never found out. anyone mind enlightening me?

It's been confirmed that we do NOT play as Alyx, because it would ruin Valves whole gameplay style really.

I don't like it, I never liked the bits in HL2 where you ganged up with people and moved around the levels. Regardless of the fact that I think Alyx is one of the more interesting characters they will really have to improve the team AI for me to find it enjoyable.

I don't like Alyx at all. Valve should redeem themselves and just have her die in the explosion at the end of Half-Life2.

Meh, since it's a first person shooter, i'd feel like i've accomplished WAY more if I killed every enemy throughout the game by myself with no help.

I think that they should kill her off in E1, not because I don't like her but I feel she might hold back the story.

I don't really mind as long as she is nowhere in sight, never gets in my way... I hated it so much when NPCs were blocking my escape route during a hectic battle. It takes away from the realism of the game that it's not possible to shoot those bastards.

they could write her out for a long time because she gets pregnant with my, i mean Gordon's child. then she would have to hide out while you go and kill!! yes, she's hide out because she couldn't risk damaging the baby.

she looks beautiful pregnant you know, that beautiful bump, her dark skin. top button of her jeans undone to accomodate the swell. black mesa t-shirt ripped to form a make-shift maternity top. the way she absent-mindedly rests her hand on the bump when she's thinking..

no, i'm not really serious, but i am a bit obsessed with the idea. i don't know why. i think i'm bored. it's odd because i really dont have women problems at the moment, things are good.

but.. I LOVE ALYX!! i'm sure they won't kill her off. her dad's probably still alive too. and why is kleiner on that screen? i assume they took over the city propaganda system in order to spread the good word.

that is very not true. why would he need to transfer into another human?

makes me think though, maybe they're going to make him into that 'kind' of baddy. you know, the kind that the hero smites in films, only to get to the end and see he has been reconstructed into a big monster thing!!

It's gonna be interesting to see how she will factor into Aftermath (story wise and AI wise). I think she is too vital to the story of HL to just kill off at this point...my opinion anyway.

No it wouldn't be great. That would be cheaply done as far as plot and just degenerate to the mood the entire series set up.

I say subtle flirting is fine with me, but I hope VALVe doesn't play that card. Leave that to movies, I don't want any of it.
