It's made entirely too clear that Alyx has a massive crush on Gordon; the sexual tension is laid on so thick that I can't help but think it must have been exagerated for the benifit of socially inept gamer nerds.

I think she's also rather confused about her own feelings for him. Partly she's infatuated with the nigh-mystical Free Man that the resistance has enshrined in legend, and the girly-girl in her seems to want him to be her knight in shining armor (at least it would shine if he ever had a chance to clean it). On the other hand, she, being a skilled fighter herself, is also protective of him. After all, when she first found him he was wandering the city, alone and confused, and probably rather frightened - not at all like the mythical Free Man, and a lot more like the bespectacled "Uncle Gordon" she most likely knew as a child. Which brings us to the time-displacement thing; they remember each other being seperated in age by over 20 years, and then one day they wake up and find themselves suddenly a lot closer. There must be a bit of a residual creepiness factor there to put a damper on whatever they might feel for each other.
