another cubemap thread

getting back to HL2DM mapping a bit after a couple years of inactivity. things have definitely changed. im trying to make my first map with HDR lighting and its going well. i am aware i need to build cubemaps twice so i will address that later when i am finalizing.

the issue i am having is when i build cubemaps in the console i need to restart HL2DM to see the effects of the cubemaps, which is time consuming. previously i could just restart the map and i could see the cubemaps working fine. now i have to exit and restart HL2DM completely for the cubemaps to display properly. does anyone else have this problem? is there a console command or something i can enter so i dont have to go through the trouble of restarting HL2DM just to see the cubemaps?
 
I'd assume everyone has this same problem. It's probably just the enigne keeping your map in memory to decrease load times.
There might be a console command to stop this behaviour, but I don't know of one.
 
i ended up being suggested something that works sort of decent.

load your map, buildcubemaps as normal, load different map, load your map again.
