Anvil Manor Bug **spoilers**

Ok, so I bought the manor the guy is seelling in Anvil for 5k, go to bed, get attacked by ghosts blah blah blah

So I go to Imperial City and he tells me to meet him in Anvil at the Inn, I go there, right on the spot where my compass says, and he isn't there, I've waited almost 3 days and he isn't there.

perhaps you have to talk to the townspeople and ask where he is before he will appear
sounds stupid but alot of quests have to be activated llike that

I've already asked everyone in the tavern that I could and so far nobody has any sort of chat option for him, I think he might be bugged, the only problem is that my last save is almost 6 hours ago and I cbb to do it all over again

You could try uploading your save game (...\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Saves) - he should be at the inn/tavern - you might check upstairs/downstairs, or possibly outside the inn? Try looking around some.

I'm sort of stuck on this quest, thought I'd better not make a new thread. After I kill the ghosts, I go into the basement and there's a 'closed portal' which doesn't open. Can anybody tell me what to do next?

Won't any sort of magic weapon do as well? I think that's true because I didn't use Silver, but rather enchanted weapons and got through it fine.

Silver or magic for ghosts.
Magic only for those evil scary ghosts with masks and weapons and cloaks.

When I say magic, I mean spells, enchanted weapons or staffs.

Look at your journal entries if you are stuck in quests--it often tells you what to do.

This one should mention a crash in the house--examine the shattered vase for a skeletal hand then go to the inn to ask about the guy you bought the house from. People will tell you he went to the Imperial city. From then on, just look at your map for the green arrow marker to find your quarry(make sure this is your "active quest") and continue the quest...good luck! The basement is no picnic!

Okay, thanks. I read the journal but I spent ten minutes in the basement and somehow didn't see the vase.

He'll only be there at a certain time. Wait for 2 hours at a time until he shows up.
