I loved this game. That being said, I can’t find any multiplayer option. Am I missing something or did it not ship with a multiplayer function?

There;s no multiplayer, just Counter-Strike: Source. Though you can play basic DM with the netcode and a bit of console-related magic, but it's not really worth the bother IMO.

Half Life 2 DOES Have Multiplayer, it's just hidden, in some time they'll release it and let us download the unlocker for free...

Multiplayer? blah blah blah... It is very possible to create and join a basic DM server. We're all aware the engine supports it, hell that engine will support most anything. Gravity, physics... Comeon now! And worry not, if it isn't to be "unlocked" Surely SOMEONE will mod the damn thing and put on a show! But for those of you with friends... [On windows, you linux people should know what you're doing as is] Right click on the desktop icon, select properties, there will be a string of code that says TARGET: steam/halflife/ or whatever ... and then applaunch220 or something... add -console to the end of this [location... -applaunch220 -console] And open this. Your console will appear on-screen
In this you need to type the following lines
net_start
sv_lan 0
deathmatch 1
maxplayers [Some Number]
maps * (to list the available maps)
then to begin the server you type
map [something from the list]
Enjoy. I found that this created some damned error message that repeated a million times and eventually my server crashed... Doing it dedicated might work I don't know. And no steam doesn't list these supposed DM servers. Although this gives you many of the weapons, your cvars need edited. IE: Guns on the ground that respawn every so often. Oh yeah, and the monsters spawn too. But some of them don't work right. I went to ravenholm and walked by some of the zombies... They just stood stupified in their spawned position.
