hopefully they'll stay on top for awhile and give nvidia some competition

oh and it's a reasonable $350 at launch with a $250 variant

I'm more concerned about their parent company giving Intel competition, but yeah that seems pretty impressive.
I assume it'll draw a lot less power than the 9800GX2 as well.

Nvidia needs competition. They've started to suck recently, simply because they've been on top for so long.

I myself, being an Nvidia man and all, would probably ditch Nvidia altogether and go with an ATI setup if I were to build a new PC. I've been disappointed with the lineup of forceware drivers recently (forceware drivers breaks anti-aliasing in Source engine games), and after doing a bit of research on ATI's latest, (well ok, I'm too lazy for research. All the credit goes to Stern. :P), I've come to the conclusion that ATI, as of today, is the superior way to go for gfx cards.

It's like a rollercoaster ride really. First ATI on top, then Nvidia, ATI, Nvidia. Sheesh. /facepalm

seems like they just surprise attacked. No announcement, just 'here it is bitch.' May.

Give Nvidia a chance to announce something awesome too.

I'm looking for something in this range (or better) in the coming months.

Great performance, but is it actually stable? ATi had me thinking real hard about going Nvidia with these last few cards.

Amazingly, I've only had one Nvidia card, and that was the FX5200, so think of how long ago that was....

I'm tempted to debate about getting the new one if it's 350 bucks.

Very good timing on ATI's part. Far better than their last big release. Now they'll be able to hold the top spot for at least a few months.

Whoa, excellent card. I'm not a fan of any of them, I will just get what's better at the time I want it, but I'm curious to see what Nvidia will do about that.
