Barney Calhoun

In the HL2.net characters section there is a less than flattering picture of our beloved Barney Calhoun, as well as a desription of his intelect. Sure it's funny and shows off the new facial systems capability of making characters look emotional (in this case extremely dumb), but Barney's not dumb. We all played him in Blue-Shift, where he seemed to be just as resourceful and skilled as Mr. Freeman. The Half-Life 2 videos also show his abilities and calm/determined demeanor while under fire.

Overall Barney's in fact just that, a calm and determined guy. One who would also probably be for what is morally right. However he is not a mentally retarded buffoon with a gun. That's what the fat security guard is there for.

So is the pic in the characters section just a single incident in the game, or has Barney become an bubba-like idiot over the span of time from Half-Life to Half-Life 2?

What is your opinion? Personally I like Barney as a trusty companion who stays calm and knows how to handle things in a firefight. Even if he's not a rocket surgeon, just please don't make him an idiotic character or the comic relief.

I guarentee if I get you to speak in a room and take a picture of you at any point without you knowing Id get a shiat load of shots like that.
