Ive been looking alot into BF2,and it seems to be everywhere. But im hooked on CSS.Is BF2 worth checkin out iff I already have CSS? Is it very tactical/squad based multiplayer like counterstrike, where iff you dont stick with your team your bound to get fragged, cuz I hate DM and TDM style multiplayer where you spawn away from your team and it turns into a freestyle killing spree.

If you don't have a squad working together with voip, it generally degrades into a TDM freestyle killing spree.

When you are in a good squad, BF2 is easily the best multiplayer shooter out there. Just hook up with some of us on Xfire, we play all the time, teamwork is pretty much guaranteed.

Go play the demo.

Yeah give the demo a go and see if you like it. I think its a blast to play, and I just got it yesterday. I've already been able to do way more than I could in CS:S. Much more variety of gameplay. Something totally different every day.

Thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard. Counter Strike has NO teamwork. If you think it has, you probably havent played another game than CS in your whole life. Counter Strike IS a team death match. Theres no planning or tactics. You will find Battlefield much different.

Yes.

Good teamwork if you're in the right server.

In the right conditions anything's possible, but the odds of having good "teamplay" for CS:S is so rare outside of competition / league. Not to mention, it doesn't truely feel like you're working together in CS:S, more like just a part of a big mob.

I would definately recommend you check out BF2, even if it's the demo. The game really shines when you're playing with people you know / friends, so the demo might not be the best representation. I had CS:S and it was fun for a while, but having played BF2 it's hard to go back.

BF2 is probably THE best squad based shooter EVAR!!! I booted up cs:s yesterday, tryed to go prone while shooting at someone, and died, then realised how crap it really was. But yeah, its way better on the internet then against bots. Even more better against friends or people you know, like us! :D

Well iff your in a clan and have something like Mirc,Teamplay in CSS can be quite tactical

Yes...that point has been made. But trying to have a good match with others on a pub just is never going to be as satisfying as BF2 teamplay.

BF2 teamplay is superior to CS:S teamplay, not to mention a helluva lot easier to setup. You can enjoy BF2 without a serious clan, all you just need to do is play with people you know ... like us :D

Not to mention the added element of vehicles makes the game nowhere near as dull as CS:S, and each one is tailored for specific roles. If you want to play solo you can go fly a single seater jet. If you're playing with just a friend then you can go for attack chopper / 2 seater jets. If you got even more then you can fly transports / apcs / humvees / buggy's etc. Alternatively you can just go on foot with your squad and works your way capping flags and fragging.

BF2 is just plain better. And this is from someone who spent much of last year staying up till 2:30 in the morning on school nights to frag with that oh-so-wonderful M4.

Make sure you play the demo first, it may not be your cup of tea (if not, your a fool!)

BF2 is easily the best Online Shooter atm imho, can't beat the teamplay when playing with these guys, or my clan :D

BF2 is an awesome game when your playing with friends. Otherwise its full of tkers, jackasses and general tools. I know the same goes for most MP games but its especially true of BF2. A kickass game anyway once you get past that, and have some decent specs for it.

Do you not play in ranked servers? Thats where I go and i've never seen tk'ers and jackasses that didn't do it for a reason. (like they don't purposely run you over or something, if your stupid and run right behind them and then they backup unexpectedly) or something. But not intentionaly.

Although its rare, there are intentional TK'ers that kill you to get certain vehicles.

Are we playing the same game? I've been unintentionally (sometimes purposefully) TK'd pretty much at least once every game ... usually bad bombers, bad pilots crashing, etc. Jackasses also seem inhierently attracted to BF2, most of the time it's some a**hole TK'ing me for vehicle or intentionally standing in the way. I also play ranked servers exclusively so I'd imagine it'd be worse for non-ranked ones.

But that's all the downside of BF2, although all of that's outweighed by the positives which have been already mentioned. That type of crap happens to all multiplayer games though, so it's not BF2-exclusive. It's just that it happens more frequent in BF2 than elsewhere. :|

BF2 is the only game to pull me away from CS since beta.
Natural-Selection was the first one to do it to me, then I got back into it, then BF2 yanked me away.

BF2 is a great game, my 300+ hours are well spent. I'm sure you can get it for ~$40 now. If it's not what you like, sell it to a friend ;)

I downloaded the full version, played with some bots, was the most BORING game I've ever played in my life. I hated BF1942 and Vietnam. Then I got a friend in....we lanned with teh bots, and it was some serious fun. We basically tried to fly the attack chopper 1/2 the time, and crashed. That was the funnest round I think I had ever played.

In essence...it requires some fun people to play with, to make the game really shine. Teamwork is a big thing in this game...and makes the game hella fun.

No i play on ranked servers. Some dickhead is always tking to get in a vehicle before you. Its always a tank or the gunner of the choppers.

And no one follows any orders or listens to your commands. So damn annoying

Yeah, man. On single player it's the pure definition of crap. The only thing more pointless and boring is world of warcraft. BF 1942 was also not that good on most servers, because people who played it went at it CS style. Nobody really used the games potential for fun. You'd play some huge ass map, and everybody would still always go to the same spots and kill eachother off instead of really playing.

But BF2 has all these side objectives in the multiplayer wich encourages teamwork.

This game really shines as a team game. It's quite rare to find a server in which EVERYONE is playing as part of their team, with a good commander and squad leaders, but they are out there, and it's worth trawling through the servers for a while until you find one.

It's nice to be in a game and see a guy actually doing his job, and get genuine thanks when you do yours. Teamwork can give some outstanding scores compared to just lone wolfing, and is much more enjoyable, for me anyway. Scores aren't why I play, and my poor ratios are evidence of that - the last thing I want is to be that sad nerd sat at the top of the score table with a billion hours playing time under my belt.
Mostly I play for fun while on Skype with friends, but being on VOIP isn't really necessary as you can communicate quite well using the comms chat.

What gives me a buzz most of all is following somebody random, and just suddenly clicking as a team, with no VOIP. Some people are genuinely friendly and you can have some interesting convos.

What P's me off most though is a team that just doesn't listen to orders, morons who are just interested in stat padding at my expense (classic example the other day in a clan server full of members, ALL stat padding by sitting in the same black hawk, all medics, flying to the edge of the map, and getting court-martial damage, healing points all round, then flying out and back in to do it again over and over until they had over 100 points each :hmph: ) or chopper/jet whores who continuously baserape. Those damn planes should have a higher stall speed, or ground to air rockets should be more accurate.

Cheats are around, but unlike other games I haven't noticed any real advantage over non-cheats - yeah, sometimes it's pretty damn obvious looking at their ridiculous kill to death ratio, but mostly they play like crap anyway. Besides, if you play as a part of a squad under a good commander, using UAVs you know where everyone is anyway.
