Black mesa east

When you arive at black mesa east, Eli show you stuff. And then he activates something and tells you to come and take a look. You can turn it around and stuff, but what is it? Is it the same cristal from half life 1? And can anything happen to it?

I believe it's the same form of crystal that was used in the experiment which caused the resonance cascade in HL.

And nothing happens to it as I recall, you can turn a switch on that starts a small reaction as much as you want, but that's about it.

Ironically, just after Gordon comes in contact with this crystal, Black Mesa East is invaded and partially destroyed.

hehe yeah. So you realy cant do anything with it? And by the way, does anyone know what those crystals realy do? is it the crystals that opens up the portals? Or do they work as the fuel for the teleportation? I mean, the portal opens when gordon push the crystal into the reactor. So what does that mean?

It means, dont push said crystal into said reactor!

It's probably not the exact same crystal specimen (I doubt Eli dug it out of the reactor after the RC and brought with him when he escaped), but it is the same type.
