Black Screen Freeze-up Upon Exit

Hi all. I'm having a problem with Half Life 2 where after loading a game or starting a New Game, and then exitting from the game, it freezes my computer. Doesn't even get to the desktop, just a black screen where I'm forced to do a hard reboot.

This only happens in Full Screen mode. I can play Windowed no problem.
I tried a few different drivers. I'm using an Nvidia GeForce 6800 Go, laptop. Thanks for the help

Problem only in Full Screen mode, computer freezes when I quit the game.
